V I TAE

Gian Paolo Luppi was born on 9 th March, 1959 in San


Giovanni in Persiceto, near Bologna.
After classical studies he graduated in Piano, Choral Music,
Instrumentation for windensemble, Composition and
Conducting.
His teachers were B.M.Furgeri, B.Bettinelli , F.Donatoni and
A.Solbiati for Composition and T.Gotti, G.Bellini and P.Olmi
for Conducting.
During his studies he also attended courses at the
Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, the Accademia
Filarmonica in Bologna and the Accademia St. Cecilia in
Roma.
Currently he is member
of the Real Accademia
Filarmonica in Bologna where he was pro-rector from
1991 to 1993.
Since 1984 he has been awarded many prizes in
Composition Competitions :Citt di Belveglio; Citt di

B.Brecht prize in Milano; Barcellona Biennale87;ViottiValsesia prize in Vercelli ,G.Briccialdiprize in Terni;

Several of his compositions were performed on Italian,
Spanish, Vatican, Rumanian and Belgian radios, and in
many important festivals in
Italia, Spagna, Grecia,

Giappone, Belgio, Ungheria, Germania, Libia, Svezia


Romania as well.

His works have been published by Peters-Frankfurt, EdipanRoma and Ut Orpheus Bologna.
Since 1980 Gian Paolo Luppi has taught in various
Conservatories, since 1996 he teaches Composition at
G.B.MartiniConservatory of Bologna.
Since 2001 he was Gust Professor in European institutions
as Royal University of Stockolm, Royal Conservatory of
Bruxelles,Politecnico University of Helsinky, Royal Danish
Academy of Music of Copenhagen, Hogeschool of Bruxelles
and Ghent.
In 2008 and 2010 he was invited as member of jury of these
2 editions
of
the International Violin Competition
organized by LoveArts of Antwerp. This organism invited
him to write the compulsory piece for all the competitors.
From 2005
he
is
teacher
at
the International
Summercourses of Mirecourt ( France )
In 2010 he was member of the jury of Unique Forms of
Continuity in Space 2010 of Melbourne.
In 2011 he was visiting professor in the HogeSchool of
Bruxelles, for Seminars and MasterClasses.
In 2012 he was
Guest Professor at the Koninklijk
Conservatorium-Artesis HogeSchool Antwerpen.
In 2013 he was invited as Guest Professor at the Marmara
niversitesi of Istanbul and the Akademia Muzyczna di Poznan.
In 2014 he was again Guest Professor at the HogeSchool of
Bruxelles and at the Akademia Muzyczna di Poznan.
In 2015 he was Guest Professor at the Conservatorio Superior
"Salvador Segu" de Castelln (Spain)
In 2016 he was Guest Professor all Akademia Muzyczna di
Poznan and host teacher at the Conservatorie of Siviglia.

He is a pianist accompainist too and has accompained several


famous solosits such as G. Raimondi, R. Raimondi, V. La Scola, C.
Bartoli, R. Scaltriti, R. Kabaiwanska, G. Frazzoni, P. Venturi, U. Grilli,
A. Cassis, C. Colombara, F. Pedaci, S. Ganassi and many others. He
has been collaborating for many years with 'Scuola di
Perfezionamento per artisti lirici' of Teatro Comunale di Bologna
performing in several concerts (playing especially Rossini's Petite
Messe Solennelle) conducted by M F. Angius.
He has been dedicating himself for several years to Sacred Music
and Liturgy, has been teaching in 'Scuole Diocesane' in Bologna and
in Modena and from 1999 to 2001 has conducted the choir Schola
Polifonica of 'Duomo di Modena'. With this choir he has
partecipated to the most important celebrations of the 'Duomo' and
has held concerts in Italy, Germany and France, has presented
sacred works in first performance and has won the 1st prize at
Concorso Nazionale per Cori Polifonici di Vallecorsa in 2000. Now he
is conducting the choir and the orchestra Soli Deo Gloria (of which
he is one of the foundators) and part of his present compositions
have a sacred and liturgical inspiration.
In 2006 he founded and conducted (until September 2009) 'Schola
Gregoriana Benedetto XVI' for the study of Liturgy and of Gregorian
Chant.
From 2007, after a long collaboration as a pianist accompainist, he
has become the conductor of the choir 'I Cantori della Primo Levi' of
'Universit della Terza et di Bologna'.
He has been commissioned several works by lots of institutions
such as: RAI (Rassegna Nuova Musica Italiana e Tu mi senti
domenica); Radio Belga; Museo C.Zauli di Faenza; Accademia
Filarmonica di Bologna;Teatro Nuovo Torino;Concerti nei Chiostri di
Parma; Festival Musicanovecento, Perugia;Teatro Comunale di
Ferrara, Concerti nel ridotto; Istituto Italiano di cultura di
Belgrado; Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Atene; Festa della
musica, Ferrara; ENDAS Umbria; Istituto Italiano di Cultura di
Stoccolma; Todi Festival; Associazione LOrfeo di
Spoleto; Comune di Prato; Love2arts di Anversa;Festival Risuonanze
Udine; Assisi Suono Sacro, performed by the most important
