Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
Students will be read a story that the teacher has created about his/her own life. The story will be read from the actual published
book that was created using the Tikatok website.
Detailed Teaching Sequence:
(Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted statements are preferred)
*Students will be shown and read the story created by the teacher.
*The class will talk about the benefits of creating an autobiography (i.e. keepsake, gift, for their future children, memories).
*The class will be shown the tikatok website and how to use this tool. They will be given the option to use the Web 2.0 tool to find
another site that is similar to the tikatok site.
*The class will then work individually (unless assigned a peer partner) to start exploring the site.
*The students will begin creating their story using the information they have previously researched, pictures they have saved and
outlines they have created from this unit.
*The students will be instructed to create their story once they have a rough idea of what they would like to do with the story.
*Students will add pictures to the story.
*Students will proofread their own story and 2 of their classmates. They will have to edit all three stories before submitting them to
the teacher.

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

The students will be responsible for creating a story independently. They will have to follow the expectations for the assignment
independently and through guided practice. The students will complete a self assessment using a teacher provided rubric upon
completion of their books.

Closure:
Students will present their findings in front of the class by reading their books to the class and showing the pictures as they read
the story. They will then have a question and answer session at the end of the book. They will be required to answer questions
from their classmates. They will also have to explain to the class why they chose to end the story the way they did (the ending
should include What I Hope to Become). They will do a self assessment at the close of the lesson.
