Greetings,
It is a pleasure and honor for me to write this letter in support of Casey Hendricks, as she
pursues a career in the field of higher education administration and student affairs. I currently work at
Northwestern University in the Medill Office of Student Life, where Casey has been an intern during the
Fall 2016 semester. During my time with Casey, I have witnessed her dedication to student engagement,
academic advising, and overall, to making an impact in the lives of our students. As her supervisor and a
proud LUC Alum, I am honored to write this letter on her behalf.
As an intern in the Student Life office, Caseys strengths and passion for working with students
and in higher education has really shined though, and it has been a perfect fit for her interests and our
team needs. Casey has specifically served as an academic advisor for undergraduate students during
this internship, and has met one-on-one with students to help them understand the curriculum, make
course decisions, think through second majors and minors, and plan out study abroad. This is a
functional area where Casey truly thrives, and she routinely provides great feedback, fresh ideas and
always asks questions to make sure she gives the correct information to students. I have been
consistently impressed with her excellent communication skills, work ethic and high levels of
professionalism and personal integrity. In addition to this, Casey also assisted in coordinating the
logistics and key components of our new student orientation programs for graduate and undergraduate
students, and was able to adjust her schedule to be present as much as possible during our most critical
moments. Her presence and assistance during this time really aided the team, and she was able to
establish relationships with students earlier because of this. In the remaining time of Caseys internship,
she will continue advising students and also assist us with convocation planning for graduate students
and helping our department develop a plan for consistent advising philosophies across programs. Lastly,
as Caseys direct supervisor, I have really been able to see her personal strengths at work. She has
superior communication skills, whether in written format, presenting to a group, and interpersonal
interactionsand she has given us great constructive feedback in a way that has been positive and
practical. Casey has also been strategic in how she completes her tasks and really thoughtful in her
professional approachthis has been particularly notable, as Casey has been managing a full time job,
coursework, and more. Throughout her time in the office, I know that I can count on Casey to be a
strong and reliable member of our team, and she brings a positive and upbeat energy that is contagious.
In the last few months, I have witnessed her dedication to developing herself as an advisor and her
willingness to sacrifice time and energy for her own personal and professional growth and development.
All of this and more demonstrates Caseys commitment to higher education and student affairs, and
shows me that she will positively contribute to this field, her community and the world.

In summary, I absolutely support Casey Hendricks entry into the professional field of higher
education administration and student affairs and am confident she will impact students lives positively.
Casey will be dedicated, thoughtful, innovative, and truly contribute those talents to our higher
education and student affairs community. Please dont hesitate to contact me if you have any further
questions regarding Caseys strengths and potential for success.
Sincerely,

Kristen Reid Salomon
