INTRODUCTION-

Defining Cyber city begins with emphasizing what it is not. It is a city with
numerous high tech firms or a special IT incentive zone or cluster.
Cyber city is a city that has set public policy goals to empower to have access
to the global information network and is using public /private partnerships to
achieve these goals. Some analysts also called cyber cities as COMMUNITY
NETWORKS. As a whole Cyber city is A city with a strong basis in information
Technology.
In this 21st century installation of cyber cities is being considered as an initial
step for development and advancement of a region in a state/country. Every cyber
cities have their own features according to their geography, socio economic
features etc of their region which differentiate it from other regional cyber cities.
Also they possess some common characteristics. They may be popular of their
variety; they are committed to uniting cultures. Yet in spite of their variety, they are
committed to uniting their residents on the internet and using its power for social
and economic advancements.
Cyber cities are another sign that the world is getting smaller in the 21 st
century. As communities continuous to search for better ways of working, living and
playing together, cyber cities will help to make their search compatible with the
goals of SMART GROWTH and planned development.

PROJECT BRIEFKalamassery is suburb of the city of Kochi and a Municipality in the district of
Ernakulum of Kerala State India .It is highly industrialized region and also termed as
the Industrial Hub of Kerala. The cyber city project of Kochi is planning to set up in
Kalamassery by the Housing Development and Infrastructures limited (HDIL). The
HDIL cyber city project adds Kochi IT dreams.

The project is coming up in an area of 370 acres of land at the special

Economic Zone (SEZ) at Kalamassery. Blue star Realtors Private Ltd. A
subsidiary of the HDIL in the promoter of the project HDIL plans to build a
world class IT hub in Kerala which would provide 60,000 direct jobs on
completion.
The cyber city is planned to be an integrated township with residential
apartment, schools, shopping malls, service apartments and infrastructure
facilities for IT and ITes companies.
As per the government directive 30% of the land should be used for
supporting infrastructure and rest 70% for IT and ITes operations.
Within the Industrial hub implementing a cyber-city will act an a
catalyst to enrich Kerala economic growth. Construction of the project itself
offers major employment opportunities for the people in Kerala along with
the direct job offers after the completion of the project.
AIMTo design a Cyber city in 70acres of land at Kalamassery of Ernakulum
district. An enviro-friendly design approach has to be done according to site
conditions and climate conditions.

OBJECTIVES

To design occupant friendly and Environ friendly atmosphere with in

the hectic and busiest city of Kerala.
To utilize the maximum potential of the site and Nature to design a
green space which helps the occupants to be in a peace of mind.
To create a good and healthy and hygienic environment to the people
in every aspect through the design.
To shape up excellent technical professionals and intellectuals to
provide best cyber facilities to the state and thereby raise the
economic growth of the state developing the city as a center of
excellence in every aspects of modern life and design trends.
To design in such a way that to attract and promote people to live in
such an environment.

The project and its study is carried

1. Collection of data and standards regarding IT parks and cyber

city designs and also studies the requirement of the proposed
project.
2. Two case studies of efficiently designed cyber cities with in India.
3. Literature case studies pointing Cyber cities out of India.
4. Analysis the case studies and drawn inferences from the
Analysis.
5. Detailed study about the site including its locations,
neighborhood, access, topography, vegetation, climate,
infrastructures etc. has to be done.
6. Design brief is formulated as per the requirement.
7. Combining the influence evolved from the case studies and site
analysis a design formulated along with a concept.

SCOPEMain scope setting up a cyber-park /cyber city in Kalamassery is that it

will act as a catalyst to increase the economic growth of Kerala. Since
Kalamassery is an industrial hub number of occupants is limits these and
also most of them where workers of factories who were living bachelor life. A
family based living system is less compared to bachelor life. Emergences of a
cyber-city invites more job offer and more facilities to setup within the
premises of the township along with IT park. Also shopping mall, amenities
center etc. in absent in Kalamassery because it is an industrial hub.
Implementing a cyber-city in Kalamassery is a very process.

LIMITATIONSDesigning an cyber city which includes IT and ITes companies and their
supporting facilities like shopping mall Apartment, amenity centers etc.
within a semester span in are ie the IT park area is only being focused to
designing stage and the supporting facilities are being kept as blocks by
providing clear circulation paths and buildup area and not being design
details.
