Digital Citizenship Unit

Learner Analysis:
The learners for this unit are second grade students in Mrs.
Rowleys class at Port Wentworth Elementary. The older students at
our school use a variety of technology through the week, so Mrs.
Rowley and I thought this unit would greatly benefit these students.
Port Wentworth Elementary serves grades PK-2nd and about 350
students, within those students about 75% of them are free or reduced
lunch and 40% ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) students,
40% African American students, and 15% Caucasian students, and 5%
are other.
In Mrs. Rowleys class she has 18 students, 15 of her students
get free or reduced lunch and 8 of her students are ESOL. She has 10
girls and 8 boys; they range from ages 7-9 years old. The main
purpose of this unit is to demonstrate to the students the correct way
to use their technology and be digitally ethical.

Classroom Materials:
In Mrs. Rowleys class there is a smart board and 5 student computers.
So as we were completing the lessons we worked in her classroom with
those pieces of technology, then we met in the computer lab for the
second and third lesson so that each student could have a computer to
play the games, view the videos, and complete the assessment. Each
student had headphones or was provided with some. The computer
lab is equipped with more than 20 Chrome books.
