o TW show 20 phonograms for this week
o SW say each phonogram
o TW review phonograms again and ask clarifying question (clue/word)
WPR (Written Phonogram Review)
o TW say 10 phonograms from the 20 for this week,

SW practice writing the 10 phonograms on phonogram paper using their
nicest Spalding handwriting.
Spelling Rules
o TW review spelling rule posters for rules they will see in their spelling
words this week before starting SD
SD (Spelling Dictation)
o SW enter in last 10 spelling words on Spalding paper
o TW sound out spelling word
o SW write spelling word on their own then sound it out before teacher
writes it
o SW clap out the syllables in multi-syllable words to help them sound out

The students will practice writing their spelling words and phonograms independently
before the teacher writes it.

I will have students read the spelling words we just recorded in their notebooks. First
read them for spelling and then for reading. Tell the students to make sure they are
studying all week for their test on Friday.

Walking around and checking for students understanding while they are working. Asking
the students questions while they are working. Checking for Spalding handwriting,
checking for misspelled words, and checking for participation.
