Idea
If LTL could create and host virtual tours of transit systems
& stadiums, their customers can see their ads in these
locations virtually - all without leaving their offices

PanoTour

Virtual Tour Wish List

PanoTour by Kolor is virtual tour software that allows

users to explore a virtual space

Customer-facing interface so that customers could upload

and view their own artwork

Spaces need to be created with special camera equipment

Had to be easy to use and require little to no training

Once created, locations and polygons can be mapped to

each space

Support for multiple campaigns

Customers want to see different artwork in the same location

And spaces can link to one another, allowing users to explore a site

For example, during the holiday season or playoff games

Multi-tenancy
Intermediate companies are typically the ones setting up spaces for
their customers, and all data needed to be separated

Oracle APEX

Integration with PanoTour

Natural solution, as their IT Department was already

proficient with it and it was part of the Oracle Cloud
offering

The secret sauce for this project was to be able to

integrate with PanoTour
PanoTour produces large XML files to control each space

Decided to use APEX 5, even though it was just released

Used APEX to upload them to the database

Initial testing determined it was solid

Search & Replace for tokens where images will reside

Using the Universal Theme would save time, as the site would be
completely responsive - which was a requirement

Generate new, modified XML file from the database and feed it
back to PanoTour

Challenge was to integrate it with PanoTour

Result was an easy-to-use end-user facing tool that allows

image upload either in batch or in-line with the tour

Big XML files; just needed to parse & replace

LTL also wanted to use AWS S3 for storing artwork

APEX Universal Theme

AWS S3

Time to market was critical

LTL wanted to store any uploaded image on AWS S3

Could have stored this in the database, but they were concerned
about performance and growth

Originally was going to use a Bootstrap-based theme

But that added time & cost to the project

Used previously written routines based on the Alexandria

PL/SQL Library to integrate

Decided on using Theme 42 and augmenting with CSS

Results were well received

Files are initially upload to APEX and then immediately pushed out
to S3 and deleted from APEX

Main website does use a simple APEX application with Bootstrap

and static tours
