CHAPTER 1: OUT OF THE HAT

Event:-

(*) is referred to the situation.


(*Situation- The boys are in the class 4C with their teacher Mr Cartright, they are discussing
about the activity that they want to have during Dr Felthams Science Day. Then Mr Cartright
suggests few, which are FOOD, HOUSEWORK, SHOPPING or CHILDREN.)
Mr Cartright: Morning everybody, since Mr Felthams Science Day is getting nearer, so I
want you all please contribute your idea regards with this event.
(*Mr Cartright keep silent as it seems that the class cant really understand it. Then Mr
Cartright tried to give some clues to the class based on Dr Felthams Science Day Book.)
Mr Cartright: Well, there are some that written in Dr Felthams Science Day Book, which
include food, housework, shopping or children!
(*Some students started making noise in the class.)
Russ Mould: Children? Housework?
Sajid Mahmoud: Thats not science! Its..
Robin Foster: Its stupid!
Mr Cartright: No, please class, its not stupid. Its..
(*Then one of student in the class tried to interrupt. (Can be anyone in the class as didnt
mentioned here in the story whos exactly that person is)
Anyone: Stupid!

Anyone: Can you say them again, sir?


(*Now Mr Cartright is very angry with the class.)
Mr Cartright: No! Class listen here, I want all of you now write what you want to do for the
Science Day on some paper. Then boys, attention please, can you see the hat now Im holding
with? Please put your paper later on into this hat, is that clear? Well, the first paper you take
out of the hat is what were going to do.
(*The boys started to think and write their thought on paper while Mr Cartright is walking
around the classroom and started to lose his temper.)
Mr Cartright: Come on class, quickly!
(*Simon Martin suddenly appears in front of the door. Then the class started noisy again.)
Anyone: Welcome Simon! (Laughing)
Anyone: Hey, you find the right room!
Anyone: Youre late Sime!
Anyone: Hi, Sime!
Mr Cartright: Quiet! (Shouting at the class)
Mr Cartright: Hello Simon. Thank you for coming today.
Simon Martin: I went to the wrong class, so sorry sir. But Id tried to tell the teacher, but he
didnt even bothered me. I apologise sir.
(*Then Mr Cartright gives Simon the hat.)
Mr Cartright: Now Simon, please take one of those papers out of the hat.
Simon Martin: Why? What is it? (But Simon already knew the game theyve played)
(*Mr Cartright starts angry.)
Mr Cartright: I said take one of the papers out now!
(*Simon Martin took out one of those papers out from the hat and tried to read it.)

Simon Martin: Huhh!! I cant read it teacher because the writings very bad!
(*Again, the class making noise.)
Anyone: AughhSime, just tell us! What is it?
Simon Martin: It says here CHILDREN.
Simon Martin: Children? (Simon Martin is looking at Mr Cartright.)
(*All the boys started shouting.)
Anyone: Oh, sir! Thats for girls!
Anyone: Its babies, right?
Anyone: Oh, Sime!
Sajid Mahmoud: I was right! Its not science. I knew it. Try again, Simon.
(*Mr Cartright was panicked.)
Mr Cartright: Oh no, you dont!
(*Mr Cartright looked quickly through Dr Felthams Science Day Book.)
Mr Cartright: Children..children, ah, here it is, Flour Babies!
Russ Mould: Whats that, sir?
Russ Mould: Is that flour babies or flower babies? Thats what I want to know!
Anyone: Babies arent made of flour!
Anyone: Its stupid!
Mr Cartright: Thats what it says here, 4C. FLOUR BABIES.

CHAPTER 2 : Three Kilos Of Flour

Mr. Cartright : What ??? *He act like he was angry*


Dr. Feltham

: 3 kilos flour in a bag. The boys must look after their flour babies for 3 weeks
and write about what happens everyday in a baby book. It teaches them about
children being mothers and fathers. Very Interesting.

Mr. Cartright : 19 times 3 kilos of flour in class 4C ?? Thats 60 kios of flor in my


classroom. It will get all over the place with those boys.
Dr. Feltham

: No Mr. Cartright its 57kilos. It was 19 studentss...

*Simon outside the door is listening to those conversation with bis smile on his face.He also
imagining THE FLOUR EXPLOSION ! A huge white sea of flour in his classroom whe they
kicked the babies round the classroom after the three weeks*
Mr. Cartright : Ill never forget this Feltham !! Never, Ever Never !!!!
*Suddenly Mr. Cartright is going outside. And Simon was surpirsed by his coming.
Mr. Cartright : What are you doing here Simon ? Go back to your class Right Now !
Simon

: Yes, sir.

*After that run to the class*


Simon

: Listen ! Those flour babies are very interesting.Theyre the best !! We must
do it. We..

*Mr. C is coming and suddenly the class is feels like in heaven. SO QUIEEETTT ! And Mr C
speaks slowly to all the student.*
Mr. Carthright : I dont think flour babies are very interesting boys. Youre right-theyre
stupid. Lets do something different. What do you say ?
Russ Mould

: Can we do housework & shopping then sir ?

TB

: Yeah we can go to the shops. Buys a lots of food and things. With lots of
money sir.

*Suddenly Mr. C is thinking so HARD !*


Mr. Cartright : Go out ? With Money ??
Mr. Cartright : Hmm. Lets not do Housework and shopping. How about food ? I think thats
great idea !
Sajid

: I cooked something good but then I threw it away.

Mr. Cartright : Why you threw it away ?


Sajid

: I cooked meat sir but actually I dont eat meat. I have another idea. How
about we cook things and eat them sir ?

Simon

: And we can also served it oranges. Theyre taste really good. But theres a
problem, sir. It takes a long time

Robin

: But its not very dirty.

Mr. Cartright : No. Youre not allowed to do that. You cant take a lesson from that. Theres
no have time. OK, then. Its Flour Babies.

CHAPTER 3 ( RULE 5 )
SCENE 1
*In class 4C, Simon sat his flour baby in front of him on his desk. She had a little hat and a
skirt and big dark eyes. She was very pretty.
Robin : Sir ! Simon baby has a hat, pretty eyes and everything. Mine's only a bag of flour. It's
not right, sir.
*Simon looked angrily at Robin. He sat next to him in class.
Simon : She's mine. You can't have her.
Robin : what ? she ?
*Simon's flour baby was a girl. He knew she was a girl.
Mr.Cartright : Quiet ! Now listen carefully. These, are Dr.Feltham's rules for the flour babies.
One, the flour babies must always be clean and you must not lose any flour
from inside.
Two, your teacher will weigh the flour babies on Tuesday and Fridays.
Three, you must stay with your flour baby all the time or you must ask
somebody to stay with it for you.
Four, you must write about your flour babies everyday in your "Baby Book".
Five, other people at school and at home will watch you all the time so you
must do all these things.
*Mr.Cartright looked at the class. Very interesting, they were all quiet, nobody spoke and that
wasn't normal.
Mr.Cartright : Any questions ? *he asked,but nobody could think of any.*
*Simon took his flour baby carefully in one hand and looked at her.
Simon : Look , Robin ! She dirty and I only got her today. You see ? I want this
desk clean, Robin. Now !
Robin : Sir ! Sir ! Iwant to move, sir . Simon thinks he's my mother.
*Robin shouted*
All that day, the boys called Simon , Mrs Martin and all that day he went round the school
hintting them.

SCENE 2
*That night, Simon sat in the kitchen and ate his dinner
Simon

: Mum, was I nice a baby ?

Mrs. Martin : Yes. You had big eyes and everybody looked at you with a smile. You were the
most beautiful baby in the world
Simon
: Then, why did my dad leave ?
Mrs. Martin : [ Laugh ] Oh Simon, he stayed for six weeks !
*Simon didnt laugh. He looked at his flour baby
Simon
: There arent any photos of dad. Not one photo. Why mum ?
Mrs. Martin : I didnt know he wanted to leave. Men dont tell women these things
*Mrs Martin was unhappy and Simon didnt ask any more question
Simon
: Time to go. Its football tonight.
Mrs. Martin : Look after the baby, Simon. Footballs a dirty game.
Simon
: But I cant take her football, Mum. Only Robin and I have flour babies.
The other boysll kill us !
Ill put her in my room. The dog cant get her in there.
Mrs. Martin : You must look after her, Simon. Do you remember number five of
Dr. Felthams rules ?
Simon
: Oh no, Rule five other people will watch you all the time; you must do all the
these things . Is it you, Mum ? Are you one of the people watching me ?
Mr. Martin : I cant say Simon. And you dont know do you ? [ laugh ]
Simon
: Right .
*Simon went out of the door. He walked fast down the road to the school and talk to his baby
Simon
: Your first game of football.
My mother watching me ! Its a hard world youre in.
Now, before we get to school, Ill tell you about the rules of football..

CHAPTER 4 : Football With Baby

*Simon and Robin tried hard to find a place to put their flour babies, where the other boys
couldnt see them.
Robin

Lets put them in here.

Simon

Is it clean in here? I dont know, Sime.

*Simon looked around carefully.


Simon

Oh no. I must clean this place first. Now, wheres the

Robin

Simon, were late. *Robin push his baby into a corner and ran out.

Simon

Come on. Lets go outside. Ill find you a much nicer place to sit.

*Simon put his flour baby in a small tree then ran off to play football. But he thought about
the baby all the time and he didnt play well.
Simon

Perhaps the other boys will find her? Perhaps theyll throw her on
the floor?
Or kick her. *he could hear them laughing.

Mr. Fuller

Simon! What do you think youre doing? Are you playing this game,
boy? *shout

Simon

Perhaps theyll take her? Wash her eye off? *He must go and look
his baby.

Mr. Fuller

Simon Martin! Youre here to play football. Now stop at that tree.
And bring that football back! *shouted

The baby was there, and she was OK


Simon

you havent got any time with a baby. Two people must do this job,
a mum and dad.

Suddenly, Simon angry at his father. He kicked the football hard.


Simon

Thanks a lot, Dad! Thanks for being here*kick and kick

CHAPTER 5: Staying After Scholl

*In the afternoon on break time, Simon went to his teachers room to pass up the homework.
Suddenly, he listened to his teacher conversation.
Mr.Cartright : Look , read this .
Dr.Feltham : What is it??
Mr.Cartright : Simon Martins Baby Book . Is it what you want those boys to do ??
*Dr.Feltham take the book and start read it.
Dr.Feltham : Day 1 , flour babies are stupid . They do nothing , but you must stay with
them hours and hours. My mom looked after me for 122 650 hours but my dad
left after only 1008 hours. Robin says thats my dad is 121.6765 times worse
than my mom. This is very good.
Mr.Cartright: Is it ???
Dr.Feltham : Oh yes , Simons working with numbers and learning about looking after a
baby. Hmmm, very good. Wheres day 2??? (while flip the book). Ahhh yes.
*He continue reading.
Dr.Feltham

: Today my dog , Macpherson, tried to eat my flour baby. I cleaned her as well
as I could , but Im happy she isnt a real baby. Dogs are dangerous and the
baby could be ill.
You see , hes learning about dogs, babies and being ill.

*Behind the door Simon smile happily . Dr.Feltham found day 3 started to read.
Dr.Feltham : Today Hooper took my baby so I called him an animal and kicked his lunch
box. Then Mr.Cartright came in and told us to stay after school. Not me and
the lunch box. Me and Hooper.
Mr.Cartright : That was today.
Dr.Feltham : Well he didnt learn much yesterday. Perhaps hell do better when he stays in
after school.

*Slowly Simon go back to his class. He was unhappy . He wanted to be good.


Simon

: Ill work hard tonight . What a difficult time teacher have!!! They try to help
us and what do we do???Nothing!!! I have to do something.

Scene 2
* Miss Arnott took the class of boys after school that afternoon.
Miss Arnott

: Oh no, usually he talked to the other boys, played with his pen or went to
sleep. This wasnt normal. (she talked herself)
: Simon, are you ill?

Simon

:Im very well, thank you, Miss Arnott.

* Simon muses for a minute. He thought about the night before where he was in the
kitchen with his mom. He started to think about his dad. Then, when he awake from his
day-dream,he wrote something on a piece of paper.
Miss Arnott

: I want to know what Dad sang on that morning. Its very important. Then
ill know him better.
: Ah Simon, you can go now. You did a lot of hard work this afternoon, Simon.

Simon

: Oh, er.......... yes.

Miss Arnott

: A new start, Simon?

Simon

: Er.....perhaps, Miss Arnott. Perhaps.

* Simon got out quickly. Outside he met Sarjid.


Simon

: What are you doing?

Sarjid

: Its for the flour babies. Ill put them in here and look after them for other
boys, for earn money.

Simon

: Nobodyll pay you for that.

Sarjid

: Oh,yes they will. Ten of them say theyll pay, and the others are thinking
about it. Ill have a lot of money for looking after these babies, Simon.
CHAPTER 6 : Baby in the River

*Day 11, everybody seems giving up on their baby at the side the river they are all
gather
Robin : Hah! Yeah! Dead. We wont see her again!
Simon : Why did you do it Robin?! Ill never do that to my baby.
Robin : I was angry. The stupid thing looked at me all the time.
Simon : Yes, but why?
Robin : We all know you love your baby, but youre as big as a house, nobodys going to
laugh at you.
Wayne Driscoll : You a right, people are laughing at us. Im giving up my baby getting
detier.
George : I paid Sajid to look after my baby and now I cant go home by bus.
Wayne Philips : Im tired of mine too. Im always with my flour baby and cannot do
nothing. Lets all kick our babies into the river.
*Suddenly, simon shouted!
Simon : No! Stop it! Think of the Flour Explosion. Its going to be the best. All the flour all
over the classroom. We must wait for it.
George : Wait? Why? Catright will stop us.
Simon :No. I heard him say it to Feltham. OK. Well wait. The flour all over my class,
only its really 57.

*The boys were quite.


Wayne : OK. Well wait. The Flour Explosion is all I want from my baby.
George : They want we learn about the babies Wayne. Not for Flour Explosion.
Robin : We dont want to learn about the babies , right? We all want to finish with it them.
Right, Simon?

*Suddenly Simon walk away and Robin remembered that Simons father leaving him.
Robin : Sorry Simon. Simon! ( calling Simon loudly)

*Simon walked along the river and start asking himself.


Simon : Why did my father leave?
: What was wrong with me?

*Simon looked at his flour baby


Simon : Youre easy to love. You dont ask for anything. You dont tell me Im stupid. I
wont leave you.
: Ill look after a real baby too,later.
: ( looked at the river ) It can be noisy, dirty,all that and Ill never angry.
: (Simon asked his baby) Why Robin kick his baby? I know people can be angry
with babies. My mum also says she was often angry with me.

*Simon remembered that Robin pulled a book out of the bag to give it to Wayne and
then his baby fell In the dirt. Robin shouted loudly.
Robin : Oh no! Stupid! You stupid thing! ( looked at his dirty baby)
: People tell me all the time to look after the baby, clean the baby and dont lose it.

*Then he kicked the baby into the river. Simon talk with his baby.
Simon : Ill never do that

Chapter 7 Baby books


On day 16
Mr.cartright: what does Rick Tullis have to say? On day 14, I stay away yesterday and Im
going stay away again tomorrow. Is that flour baby? I dont like it
Class: everybody laughed
Mr.cartright: Wayne Driscoll, Day 12, My mum says her father doenst like me because Im
black and hes white. She says she tired of hearing this and wants everything to be green
Mrcartright: lets hear Gwynn Phillips on day 12. he read out some Gwynn books. It was the
same thing? as in Waynes book. He looked at Gwynn. He looked at Gwynn . how do I
know this isnt your work, Gwynn
Gwynn Phillips: How sir?
MrCartright: because you not black and Wayne is!
MrCartright: what does Sajid have to say on Day 14? I got twelve babies to look after, and
Class: Im getting lots of money for it! (everyone shouted)
MrCartright: yes! Heres Simon Martin on Day 12. I was unhappy when Robin kicked his
baby in the river and Im unhappy now, but my mom says people are always doing wrong
things and you must try to forget it.
Sajid: Dont listen to Sime sir! Robin was right! Babies are stupid! Robin baby was lucky! In
the old days people leave their babies on maountain to die.
George Spalder: in the old days, people ate their babies. I read it in a book
Mrcartright: err George. Ate them! Were they nice? What book? You cannot eat babies
(shouted)
Gwynn: what about
Mr.cartright: yes, Gwynn?
Gwynn: youre with a girl right? And and you have an an accident. An accident and
you start a baby..
Mrcartright: (he looked at the class) what do you think?
Wayne Driscoll: you can always say no
Mrcartright: Russ, give these book to the boys please
Mr. Catright : What are you thinking about baby books, Simon?
Simon : Father

Mr. Catright : Why, Have you got a new father now.


Simon : No, I want to know what he sang.
Mr. Catright : Simon, I'll tell you what your dad sang.
Simon : Will you?
Mr. Catright : Yes, It was "Sail Away"
Narrator : Mr. Catright back to his desk before Simon could answer.
Mr. Catright : You can go home now!!!

SCRIPT: CHAPTER 8 - THE SONG ( PART I )

SCENE 1:AT HOME


*SIMON BEGGING MRS MARTIN TO SANG THE SONG, BUT HIS
MOTHER JUST COULD SANG TWO LINES OF THE SONG.
Simon

: Go on. Sing it.

Mrs. Martin : I cant. I dont remember it.


Simon

: Look, mum, please try

*MRS MARTIN STARTED SANG THE SONG


Mrs. Martin : open the sails, boys, so the winds can find me,
Sailing the beautiful, blue, sunny sea*SUDDENLY MRS MARTIN STOPPED SANG THE SONG
Simon

: You stopped

Mrs Martin : Thats all I can remember


Simon

: Two line? Is that all? Thats no good, mum. I know, lets


telephone your friend sue, shell know.

Mrs Martin : Sue?


Simon

: She was there on the morning Dad left. Go on, mum,


phone her.
SCENE 2 : AT HOME; TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

*SUE KNEW SAIL AWAY. ON THE PHONE SUE SANG THE FIRST
TWO LINES, THEN SHE SANG.
Sue

: Im sad, but Ill throw all my problems away,


Not carry that weight- this is my new day

*THEN SUE STOPPED SANG THE SONG.

Sue

: I dont remember the other lines. Goodbye, simon.


SCENE 3:AT GARDEN

* SIMON WAS REALLY ANGRY, AND HE WENT INTO THE GARDEN TO


TRY TO THINK. HYACINTH SPICER, HIS NEIGHBOURS, WAS IN HER
GARDEN. SIMON DIDNT LIKE HYACINTH SPICER, BUT SIMON
THINK PERHAPS HYACINTH KNEW THE OTHERS LINES OF SONG.
Simon

: Oh its very difficult, Hyacinth. Sail Away. I know the


first four lines, but you couldnt sing the others. Oh, no.

Hyacinth

: Yes I could. Its easy. Listen.

*HYACINTH SANG THE LAST FOUR LINES


Hyacinth

: Ill sail for the sun, where light and love is,
Goodbye, my friends, my new times are here
Others can stay here and play with their babies -

*SUDDENLY HYACINTHS MOTHER CALLED HER. THEN, SHE


STOPPED SANG THE SONG AND RAN INTO THE HOUSE. SHE
COULDNT FINISHED THE LAST LINE OF THE SONG.

SCENE 4: AT HOME; THE NEXT MORNING, BREAKFAST TIMED


*THE LAST LINE OF THE SONG HARASS SIMONS SLEEP LAST
NIGHT. MRS. MARTIN SUGGESTED SIMON TO ASKED MR. CATRIGHT
ABOUT THE LAST LINE.
Simon

: The last line! What was the last line?

Mrs Martin: Ask Mr. Catright.


Simon

: Yeah!.

*SIMON LOOKED AND TALKED WITH HIS FLOUR BABY ALONE.


Simon

: You did this to me, you know. I want to go to school these


days, and that never happened before you came.

*THEN, MARTIN SAW HIS FLOUR BABY WAS VERY DIRTY,


SUDDENLY, HE UNDERSTOOD THE REASONS HIS FATHER LEFT:
BABIES WERE VERY HARD WORK

Part 2
Outside school Simon met Wayne Driscoll.
Wayne Driscoll:Your babies worse than me
Simon: Yeah, I know that. I thought that I can look for a baby but I cant. I'm not
interested,my father too and I understand now
Then Simon start singing
Simon: Open the sails,boys,so the winds can find me,
Sailing the beautiful,blue,sunny sea....
Simon's singing strong and everybody in the school can heard it.Mr Cartright heard it and
looked out of the window. He's happy to see Simon was better today.
Simon: Others can stay here and play with their babies...
But then he didn't the next line and stopped. Mr.Cartright open the window and sang towards
Simon
Mr.Cartright:My heart's a tall ship,and strong winds are near
Simon : The last line! Hahahaha.
Wayne: How can a heart be a ship?
Simon : I don't know. Let's ask him
They went over to a boy with an open book in his hands
Simon : Here you. Listen,I want to know something. OK?
Then Simon sang
Simon : My heart's a tall ship,and strong winds are near
The boy keep quiet
Simon : Come on, I can't stay here all day,you know. Do you understand it or not?
The boy : Er.....Oh yes. Your heart is a ship,and when wind stars,you must move,you must
sail away. Perhaps you want to stay,but you can't because of your heart
Simon : Is that it? You must go,right? I understand now. Your heart tells you to go.
Yeah,thanks
The boy: Thanks
And the boy walked away with a smile on his face

CHAPTER 9 : NO FLOUR EXPLOSION


Scene 1
*Simon sang all that day. Mr Cartright put his head out of the door of Class 4C.
Mr Cartright : Simon! What are you doing ?
Simon

: Dr Feltham told me to carry this to the Science room for the Science Day.

Mr Cartright : Oh no! I am tired of him and his stupid Science Day. Simon, get in this class
now! We are going to weigh the flour babies.
Simon

: Okay sir! I am coming now.

Mr Cartright : Hello everyone! Now listen , today I want you to give all your babies back to
me. We will weigh them for the last time.
All student

: But we cant, sir! It is four days early. When are we going to have the Flour
Explosion?

Mr Cartright : What? The flour what?


Russ Mould

: The Flour Explosion, sir. Simon told us that we could kick our babies all over
the classroom.

Mr Cartright : Kick them where? In here?Flour? Simon Martin told you that?
*Mr Cartright started to laugh. He laughed and laughed. His face went redder and redder.
Suddenly he stopped.
Mr Cartright : Forget it, everyone! No explosion! Understand?
Scene 2
Mr Cartright sat on his desk. There was a big black bag next to it. Russ Mould was the
nearest boy.
Mr Cartright : Give me your baby, Russ.
*Russ gave his teacher the flour baby. Mr Cartright weighed it then threw it into the bag. The
other boys also gave Mr Cartright their flour babies.
The boys

: Lets have Simon Explosion. After class we will give you a good kicking,
Simon Martin. We will never forget this.

Mr Cartright weighed Wayne Philips baby.


Mr Cartright : Only one and a half kilos. What did you do to it, Wayne? Where did the other
half of the flour go? Did you eat it?

*Wayne didnt answer. Mr Cartrightthrew Waynes baby into the bag.


Mr Cartright : One more baby. Simon? Simon Martin! Bring your flour baby here now!
Simon walked slowly to Mr Cartrights desk. He give the flour baby to Mr Cartright.
Mr Cartright : What is this?
Simon

: My flour baby, sir.

Mr Cartright : This? But , it is black. Look at it! It is the dirtiest baby in the class. I am not
going to weigh this baby. It is going to the bag now.
*Mr Cartright threw Simons flour baby into the bag and turned away. But Simon quickly
caught the baby and put her under his shirt. Then he walked away and carefully put her into
his desk. Nobody saw him.
Scene 3
Mr Cartright : Now, you must all finish your Baby Book for today and then you can go
early.
Mr Cartrightwalked round the class and tried to read the boys Baby Books. Then he stopped
behind Simon. Simon Wrote on his book ,
Day 18 The Flour Explosion did not happen. I wanted to kick the other babies, but not
mine. I couldnt kick my baby. I like her now. And I havent got any friends.
Then Mr Cartright saw water on the paper. Simon crying. Mr Cartright stood next to Simon
and the other boys in the class could not see him crying. Simon wrote on his book again. I
liked looking after that flour baby. I liked talking to her in my arms. Mum says Dad did that
with me before he left us. That is nice. He wasnt very good at looking after me but I know I
wasnt very good with my baby.MrCartright wanted to cry too.
Mr Cartright : Oh Simon, go and get your baby out of the bag. You can have her.
*Simon didnt speak. He opened his desk in the dark, with her big eyes.
Mr Cartright : She is a dirty little thing Simon. But I think you love her and I will tell you

The boys

: Whats in there? Open the desk,Simon! Lets see!(hit simon desk)

*Mr Cartright came back into classroom for his cigarettes,


Mr Cartright

: Stay in after school on Monday,Simon.(shouted). For playing ball in class.

Mr Cartright left,
*Mr Cartright came into classroom again for his coat,
Mr Cartright : Stay in after school on Tuesday,Simon,for standing on school
chairs.
*Mr Cartright left,(The boys laugh)
Simon

: Theyll never have this baby.Ill do anything for her.(mumbling)

Outside classroom
Mr Cartright : Ah Simon(smile),Take this bag of babies along to Dr Felthams
Science room,please.(walk away) Thank you,Simon.And stay in after school on
Wednesday ,too,for running out of the classroom.
Dr Feltham : Simon Martin,I told you to take that box to the Science room
hours ago! Stay in after school on Monday...(shouted)
Simon

: I cant do that before Thursday,sir. I havent got an afternoon before then.

Dr Feltham

: Thursday it is. And I want that box in the Science room now.

Science room
Mr Higham

: Look,Theres flour all over the floor.

Simon look down


Simon

: But Dr Feltham told me to....

Mr Higham

: Go away and take those babies with you .I cant have flour here, this is the
Science room. (angry)

Simon

: But Dr Feltham...

Mr Higham

: Go now,Simon! And stay on Monday...

Simon

: Friday,sir.

Mr Higham

Simon take the bag outside


Outside Science room
Simon: These babies are really hard work.You cant do anything right.I want to be a tall ship
and sail away. (thinking)
: My father did that. He left,and now I understand why.And its not important
now...he went years ago.(quiet)
: What am I doing? This is a bag of flour,not a real baby,not a `she....only a bag of
flour.And it isnt important!(while kick bag of babies)
: Im too young for a baby!(kick) Im not a father!
Start to sing `SAIL AWAY song
Then walked to the door
