TERMSANDCONDITIONSFORPARTICIPATIONINHPCLSCONTEST2016
Introduction:
ThereareanumberofTermsandConditionsasdetailedbelowforentry.Theseareimportanttoensurethatthe
Projectyouproposetosubmitiseligibletowinandshouldmeetimportantlegalandfaircriteria.Notethatany
deviationfromtheseTermsandConditionsmayregretfullyrenderyoursubmissiontothecompetitionvoid.
Thedetailsofthecontestaredescribedonthecontestportalandattachedtothistermsandconditionsanditis
expresslystatedhereinthatthistermsandconditionsshallatalltimesformanintegralpartofthecontest.
Submissionofanentrywillbetakentomeanacceptanceofthesetermsandconditions.Registrationtothe
contestisabsolutelyvoluntarily,andthatHPCLshallnotberesponsibleorliableforanycostsorother
implicationsarisingoutofyourparticipationtothiscontest,orincurredbyyoutowardstheprojectworkorfor
theparticipationtothecontest,inanyway.
EligibilitytoEnter:
Thecompetitionisopenonlytostudentsindividuallyoringroupsofmaximum3studentsonlyfromthe
selectedinstitutes.
SubmissionandAcceptance:
Anyentrant/entrantstothecompetitionmaysubmithis/her/theirprojectpaperonatopicprovidedbythe
Corporationwhichwouldbepertainingtoandspecifictothepetrol/dieselbusinessoftheCorporation.
EntriesmaybesubmittedonlyinEnglishLanguage.
Theprojectpapersubmittedbytheparticipant/participantsforthecompetitionshouldbewithinaword
limitof3000words.
Entrieswillonlybeacceptablethroughtheavailableonlinelink(Theattachmentsforprojectpapers
shouldnotbemorethan6MB.
Allentriesmustbereceivedbyclosingdatepublishedontheportal.HPCLreservestherighttoextend
thecompetitiondeadlineatourowndiscretion,howeveritwouldneverbeobligatoryforustoextendthe
deadline.
Eachparticipantcansubmitonlyoneprojectpaper,howeveryouwillhavearighttomodifythe
submissionsmadebyyou(asmanytimesasonewishestodothesame)beforetheclosureofthe
competitionby3.00pmontheclosingdatenotifiedonthecontestportal.
Wemayatoursolediscretion,amend,revise,supplement,delete,vary,add,modify,cancel,terminateor
suspendtheCompetitionoranyoftheseTermsandConditionspriortothecessationoftheCompetition
foranyreasonandwithoutpriornotice.Competitionparticipantsshallbeboundbysuchchanges,
amendments,revisions,supplements,deletions,variations,additions,modifications,cancellations,
terminationsorsuspensions.
Thestudy/researchundertakenbystudent/stowardsdevelopmentofprojectpaper,oncesubmittedfor
thecontestshallbethepropertyofHPCLandthatstudent(s),facultyorinstituteshallnotclaimanyright
orinterestintheprojectpaper/researchsubmittedtoHPCLandthesamecanbeusedforanypurpose
thatHPCLshalldecideorfindsitsuitablefor.
OnceaprojectreporthasbeensubmittedtoHPCLthereafternospecificorseparateconsentorapproval
shallberequiredoftheconcernedstudent(s)/institute.

EvaluationProcess:
TheevaluationprocessthatshallbefollowedbyHPCLbeasfollows:
ScreeningandFinalEvaluationofProjectPapers:
Firstlevelofscreeningofalltheentriesshallbeatcampuslevel,byfacultyfromrespectivecampusand/or
functionalexpertsfromHPCL.Theobjectivesoffirstlevelofscreeningshallbeasfollows,Qualifytheentries
fromrespectivecampusmeetingthresholdrequirementsofprojectpapers.
EvaluateandselecttheTop2entriesforeachcampus.
Ashortlistofapprox.top20entriesshallbepreparedthroughevaluationbyexperiencedsubjectmatterexperts
(SMEs)atHPCL.Shortlistedentries/studentsshallbeinvitedforafinalpresentationtoHPCLatour
ManagementDevelopmentInstituteatNigdi,Pune.Thestayarrangementsshallbemadeatthevenueand
expensesfortravelbyair(economyclass)fromthelocation/cityofinstituteshallbereimbursedtostudents
basedonproductionofactualtickets.Wewouldbekeentolookforparticipationoffacultymembersfromthe
institutestoreflectonworkputupbytheirstudents.
Evaluationofprojectpapersshallbeprimarilybasedonthefollowingparameters:
Understandingofstatementofpurposeforthetopic.
Clarityofapproachandobjectivitydisplayedindifferentelementsofproject.
Significance,noveltyofproposedidea,approachorsolution.
Higherrelevancetoreallifebusinesscontexts.
Theevaluationandprocessinvolvedinthecontestrightuptodeclarationoffinalresultsshallbesolelydecided
andatthediscretionofHPCL,andthestudent(s)/faculty/instituteherebywaivealltheirrightstoraiseany
disputespertainingtothesame.
TheRewardsandrecognitionsenvisagedforthestudent(s)throughthiscontestareenvisagedbyHPCLasa
meanstoencourage/motivatestudentstoparticipateforachievingandsharingqualitylearning,however
HPCLshallhavethesolediscretiontoeitherdiscontinue,reduce,enhancesuchrewardsannouncedatlaunchor
duringthecontest,indoingsoHPCLshallnotbeliabletopayanyfinancialcompensationorclaimofany
kind.
IntellectualProperty
Allentrantsagreethattheprojectpapersubmittedbythemistheiroriginalorauthorizedwork.Ifstudentsare
usinganyauthorizedworkofanythirdpartytheyshallobtainwrittenauthorizationfromownerofsuchwork
whereinitshouldbespecificallymentionedthattheprojectreportsubmittedbaseduponsuchworkshallbethe
exclusivepropertyofHPCLThatthestudy,researchundertakenbystudent/stowardsdevelopmentofproject
paper,oncesubmittedforthecontestshallbethepropertyofHPCLandthatstudent/s,facultyorinstituteshall
notclaimanycopyright,trademarkoranyotherIntellectualProprietaryRights.Insubmittingtothe
competition,youagreetograntpermissiontotheHPCLlicense,righttopublishorotherwiseusethesubmitted
Projectreportinanywaythatwemaydeemfit.HPCLshallnotbeliabletopayanyroyalty,commissions,etc
toanystudent(s),faculty,andinstitutesforusingsuchProjectreport
Confidentiality
Asageneralprinciple,allbusiness,financial,operational,administrative,marketing,economicinformation,
data,documents,businessarrangement,specifications,samplespertainingtoHPCLhereto,asthecasemaybe,

disclosedbyHPCLtotheStudent/sorfacultyorinstitutewhetherorallyorinwritingorinelectronicform,in
connectionoftheirstudy,researchundertakenforprojectdevelopmentshallbeconsideredasConfidential
Information.ItisherebyagreedbytherecipientofsuchConfidentialInformationthattheyshalltakethe
requiredstepstoensuretheprotectionofsuchConfidentialInformationandthatanysuchConfidential
InformationshallnotbedisclosedtoanythirdpartyortothecompetitorsofHPCL.Therecipientisawarethat
theConfidentialInformationhasbeenprovidedbyHPCLforconductingstudyrelatingtothecontestonlyand
thatitcannotbeusedbythemelsewhereforanyotherpurpose,moreoverallsuchConfidentialInformation
shallatalltimesremainthesoleandexclusivepropertyofHPCL.
CompetitionPrizes,&Judging
JudgestoadjudicatethecontestmayeitherbeofficersofHPCLorotherexpertsintheparticularfieldwhich
HPCLmaydecideatitssolediscretion.Participantswaivetheirrighttoraiseanyobjectiononthesame.
Completetransparencyshallbemaintainedduringtheentirecompetition.
ThedecisionofevaluationpanelnominatedbyHPCLshallbefinalandbinding.
Disputes
ThetermsandconditionsofthiscontestshallbegovernedbylawsofIndiaandpartiessubmitthemselvestothe
exclusivejurisdictionofCourtsinMumbai.
