RE: GEORGE HARDING LOVIE
National Parole Board and Parole Members in Attendance:
BEFORE THE HEARING OF MURDERER GEORGE HARDING LOVIE, THE EDWARDS.
FAMILY IS VEHEMENTLY REQUESTING THAT LOVIE IS PROFESSIONALLY FITTED
WITH A HEARING AID. LOVIE HAS HAD OVER 25 YEARS OF FREE MEDICAL CARE
AND HE STILL HAS NOT ADDRESSED HIS HEARING PROBLEM. AT THE LAST
PAROLE MEETING, HE USED HIS “LACK OF HEARING” AS A STALL TACTIC AND
USED IT TO HIS ADVANTAGE TO HAVE MORE TIME TO CONSIDER HIS ANSWERS.
THIS REQUEST IS NOT UNREASONABLE.
My name is Tannis Edwards and 1 am the sole daughter ~ in-law of Donna and Amold Edwards.
For 26 years, family friends, neighbors and media have expressed how sincere, supportive,
wonderful, heartfelt community and church members they were. Mom and Dad were described
as — “A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
Many people have asked me how I have not become frustrated with murderer Lovie and the
process and his hearings that we continue to endure after 26 years. T answer them that when
offender Lovie submits “unreasonable” applications, it ignites my fire and fuels my power to
continue to fight for our rights and all rights of victims of mass murders.
Life can seem like a roller coaster with its ups and downs but we, as a family, have our peaks and.
valleys. Today, being here and present in this uncomfortable room with Offender Lovie is a
major valley moment. Please know that we are all very strong, proud and confident that we will
climb out of this valley victoriously.
I would like to reiterate what emotional, financial and health related issues Lovie’s actions still
continue to impact upon us as a family. With any release of Lovie, security concerns would be an
instant threat to our safety. Additional anxiety, fear, distress and apprehension would influence
everyday life more than you could ever imagine, It would paralyze us and bring life activities to
ahait, Further, do I need to remind the Board regarding the PTSD that many family members
continue to struggle with and seek professional counselling,
Murderer Lovie has been incarcerated for 25+ years. He has received free housing, the best
‘medical care, three meals provided each day, never had to worry about if the roof is going to leak
or if there is food in the frig—ZERO responsibilities and ZERO training. He also has access to
free unlimited schooling and career training. During all this time, he could have completed a
Bachelor's Degree, a Master’s Degree, a PHD and a Post Doctorate, Has he even completed
high school?
Offender Lovie stated at the last Parole hearing that he wanted to open a carpentry shop if he was
paroled. Has Lovie even had an instructional training to be a tradesman? What skills or meansdoes Lovie possess to support himself in the real world? Will he continue to live off the
government and our family’s tax dollars?
Also, Lovie stated to the Parole Board members that he would “consider” a sex offender risk
assessment. As a family we have not received any notification that he has even complied with
that request, Tell me....what has Lovie done to change anything from the last requests and
hearing? WHAT HAS CHANGED?
A few years ago Lovie applied for several escorted and unescorted passes to visit Peterborough.
It was denied by the Parole Board without as much as a hearing. We have family members
residing and visiting the area frequently. I find it troubling that Lovie wants to go down that path
again after already being denied. The Peterborough Police and their Risk Assessment
department made it perfectly clear that Murderer Lovie was not welcome in the community or
near the area of Peterborough.
Let's touch on the sexual assault of Michelle Edwards. Lovie has never taken responsibility or
acknowledged the circumstance of the Friday evening in February 1991. How could sex with a
knife at your throat, bullets present and the threat of a gun in his car trunk be misconstrued as
consensual? To this day, Lovie continues to claim it was consensual sex. He will always be
viewed in the public eye as a sex offender.
I believe that George Harding Lovie makes applications so that he has the opportunity to see our
family again and have us relive the horror over and over.
In closing, I am eager to hear from George Harding Lovie what he has accomplished or changed
since the last identical application was denied.
