Water Act Requirement

1. The company should have comprehensive treatment system consisting of primary / secondary & tertiary treatment
2. Quality of treated effluent should be as per MPCB prescribed standards:
pH: 5.5<9.0
Suspended solids: <101mg/L
BOD 3 Days 27 C: <100mg/L
COD: <251mg/L
Oil & Grease: <11mg/L
3. Trade effluent disposal : Treated effluent trade effluent should recycle to the maximum extend & remaining should be
used for the garden
4. Sewage effluent treatment: The applicant should provide comprehensive treatment system as is warented with reference to
effluent quality and & operate and maintain the same continuously to achieve the quantity of treated effluent to following
standards:
Suspended Solids: <101 mg/L
BOD 3 days 27 c: <100mg/L
5. Industry should monitor the effluent quality regularly

The Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977

REQUIREMNT

AFFIXING OF METERS

For the purpose of measuring and recording the quantity of water consumed, every
person carrying on any specified industry and every local authority shall affix meters
of such standard and at such a places as may be prescribed and it shall be presumed
that the quantity indicated by the meter has been consumed by such a person or local
authority, as the case may be, until the contrary is proved
Where any person or local authority fails to affix any meter as required by sub
section (I), The Central Government shall after notice to such a person or local
authority, as the case may be, cause such a meter to be affix and the cost of such a
meter together with the cost for affixing the meter may be recovered from such a
person or local authority by the central government in the same manner as an arrear
of land revenue

FURNISHING OF RETURNS IN
FORM NO. I

Every Person carrying on any specified industry and every local authority, liable to
pay the cess under section 3, shall furnish such returns, in such a forms at such a
intervals and containing such particulars to such officer or authority, as may be
prescribed.

If Person carrying on any specified industry or local authority , liable to pay the cess

under section 3, fails to furnish any return under sub section (1), The officer or the
authority shall give notice requiring such a person or local authority to furnish such a
returns before such a date as may be specified in the notice

ANNUAL means Annual arithmetic mean of minimum 104 measurements in a year at a particulate site taken twice a week 24 hourly at uniform intervals.

24 Hours means 25 hourly or 08 hourly or 01 hourly monitored values, as applicable, shall be complied with 98% of the time in a year. 2% of the time, they may
exceed the limits but not on two consecutive days of monitoring.

Whenever & wherever monitoring results on two consecutive days of monitoring exceed the limit specified above for the respective category, it shall be considered adequate
reason to institute regular or continuous monitoring & further investigation.
