What is ISM ?
ISM or Independent Student Mentorship is a program where
students are given the opportunity to focus on a particular career
for the cause of research.

Daily Life in the office : sterilization, archwire adjustments,
appliance maintance.

Why
I chose to do my independent study over appliances dealing
with braces because growing up, being an orthodontist is
everything I aspired to be. I wanted to find a way to get involved
with not only orthodontics but dentistry as soon as possible and
this course has granted me the opportunity to do so. Focusing on
Appliances really allowed me to grasp a deeper understanding of
orthodontics and to gain knowledge that I will use as I grow
older, finish school, and begin my career.

I would like to thank my Mentor Dr. Heath Smith and all of the
assistants for allowing me to shadow them for this semester. I
am extremely appreciative for the experience and knowledge I
have gained from my mentorship at Smith and Davis
Orthodontics .
I also would like to thank my ISM teacher Mrs. Click for working
with me and assisting me with course and anything I may have
needed help with along the way. Without her guidance I dont
know how I would have been so successful in this course.
