Financial for Development Final Project

Writing assignment
I am from Mexico, in my country there are a lot of Development problems, I live in a small
city known as Coacalco, I have lived here since I was a little girl.
I am a Teacher and I work in a University near my home, but I spent almost 1 hour to get to
my job, I am a Bachelor in International Relations from the Universidad Nacional Autnoma
de Mxico, I attend to the University and I spent almost 2 hours to get there.
So I know how is the traffic in my area and since I don't have a car, I have to take the public
transportation. Through the years I have seen how the pollution has been growing in the
area so I chose this problem to present my final project.
My final project is about the High pollution in the Estado de Mxico because the
transportation means are very old and useless for the huge amount of people that use it to
transport to their jobs or houses, part of the problem is that we dont have normal buses to
move from one place to another so we use a Volkswagen Combi, this kind of van is very
small and dangerous so to transport all these people its necessary to have a lot of these
vehicles.
in the other hand we have a lot of old taxis and there are illegal taxis too so they pollute a lot
and don't have any control from the government

besides that we have old trucks that

transport all kind of goods from the private companies or the government.
I think that its a very important issue to solve in order to achieve the Sustainable
Development goals so for the Estado de Mxico it's a fundamental goal to improve the
environmental conditions in the area.
I have thought about some steps that can be useful to resolve the problem and for this its
necessary to coordinate actions from the public and private sector as long as the
International Organizations and citizens.
There are a lot of reasons that are important for the public and private sector to participate
and cooperate to improve the transportation in the Estado de Mxico such as: the
importance of the global warming and climate change for the Sustainable Development
goals and the compromise that Mxico has with the United Nations and other International
Organisms

The strong necessity that the citizens from the area have about the transportation means
innovation that have a good opportunity for the private sector, moreover the MDBs and the
IMF could help the different sectors involve so as to get a good agreements about invest and
financial tools regarding to the domestic resources, the banks function and the Official
Development Assistance.
However there are a lot of obstacles like the low income of the Estado de Mxico, the
corruption that involves all the levels, the poverty of the owners of taxis, trucks, buses, the
lack of cooperation with the universities and the lack of trust that the private sector has.
Some of my ideas about how to solve the problem are link with the work that MDBs and the
IMF do regarding to the advice about the private sector and the development of the trust,
and the financial resources that the government could seek in the domestic area.
I have thought that the taxis could be changed to a new technology so as the electric
engines to avoid pollution and the Volkswagen combies could be switch for big buses and
the Mexibus line could develop more destinies and routes.
I consider that its necessary to change the taxes policies so as to the Estado de Mxico
could get most of the incomes, and it would be good to explore all the channels that can
provide funds from all the sectors.
I would work with the International Organizations as MDBs and IMF to develop a key to grow
the trust in the private sector, coordinate the public, private sector, as long as the citizens
and the banks to get the goal. Speaking about the corruption it would be necessary to
involve the citizens, the International Organizations and the private sector to supervise and
check all the movements regarding to funds that the government handle.
