(fig.2).Thehousingwashersandballandcageassembliesof
doubledirectionbearingsareidenticaltothoseusedinsingle
directionbearings.Doubledirectionthrustballbearingscan
accommodateaxialloadsandlocateashaftaxially,inboth
directions.

shownin table1.
Thelubricantsgenerallyusedforrollingbearingsdonothaveadetrimentaleffectoncage

Bearings with sphered housing washers

Toaccommodateinitialmisalignmentbetweentheshaftandhousing,SKFsuppliesboth
singleanddoubledirectionthrustballbearingswithspheredseatsurfacesonthehousing
washers(fig.3).Theycanbeusedtogetherwithaspheredseatwasheradjacenttothe
housingwasher(fig.4andfig.5)oradjacenttoamachinecomponentmanufacturedwitha
spheredsurface.

Dependingonthebearingseries,theyhavethebasicdesignationU2,U3orU4followedby
atwodigitnumber,whichidentifiesthesize(e.g.spheredseatwasherU320forbearing
53320).
