Summary
This case said all
children should
have equal
education, but
separate. However,
its difficult to have
things that are
equal if they are
separated. Parents
with disabled
children said that
under the law, the
child with
disabilities has a
right to be able to
have all the same
opportunities as
everyone else.
This act says
people cant
discriminate due to
race, gender,
religion or any
other
demographic.
Was passed to help
students from lowincome families
that were having
difficulty in school.
It helped give
funding to the
schools to help the
students succeed
in school. In 1968,
the act was
amended and
became the
Bilingual Education
Act which helped
students whose
primary language
wasnt English. It
gave the schools
funding for

Affects businesses

Also affects people
with disabilities.
Rehabilitation Act
1972/1973
This affects
businesses that are
federally funded
resources.
This case was
centered around
the idea that its
unfair to have a
track system based
on the IQs of
students. This
discriminates
against low-income
and African
American students
whose IQ might not
be as high.
This case said that
students had to be
tested in their
native language.
This was to prevent
African American
children from being
put into Special
Education classes
just because they
didnt do well on
standardized tests
because they were
tested in English,
not in their native
language.
This act says that
all buildings and
businesses that are
federally owned or
supported must be
accessible to
everyone. No
matter a persons
disabilities, they
should be able to
access the
building. This
would include
buildings such as
libraries, schools,
and post offices.
This act was

standardized tests
and all scores must
be used, but
accommodations
for students with
disabilities are
given, like more
time to complete
the tests. They
must take
assessments in
math, reading and
science. When the
scores are posted,
certain groups
scores must be
posted too, such as
English learners,
students with
disabilities, and
different ethnic and
racial groups.
