Local Artist Introduces

2016 Christmas Card

The full page of Halloween

safety tips in the October 26 edition of the Stillwater Valley
Advertiser was the most eyecatching presentation of both
safety tips for the season as well
as an effective means to get attention to the small ads.
I read every one to see not
only the tip, but also to see the
name of the business that sponsored it. It was very enjoyable
and interesting reading. Cleverly done!

The Final Card in A Troy Christmas Series

Miami County artist Jacqui Lowther Noll introduces her 2016 Christmas card, Santa on the Square, the 20th and final addition to her A
Troy Christmas card series started in 2006.
Jacquis concept was to combine her Christianity with her God-given
artistic ability. She is a graduate of the Edison Community College Commercial Arts program and continues to work locally as a commercial
artist.
Santa On The Square
Card scenes include Santa on the Square, Mayflower Arts Center,
Overfield Tavern Museum, West Milton Waterwheel Farm, New
Adams St. Bridge, Troy River Levee, Lost Creek Reserve, Pleasant
Hill United Church of Christ, Old Adams St. Bridge & Courthouse, Iddings Log House, Brukner Nature Center, Fulton Farms, Old Soldiers Monument, Hayner Cultural Center, Eldean Covered
Bridge, Waco Bi-Plane, Christmas Tree on the Square, and Ice Skater at Hobart Arena.
The 2016 card renders the artists grandchildren as they visited with Santa during the 2015 Christmas
Tree Lighting on the Troy Square. After the parade and mayors reading of The Month Before Christmas,
Santa stepped out of the fire truck and made his way over to Prouty Plaza to the newly constructed Santa
House. There, Santa and Mrs. Claus were available to hear the holiday wishes of anticipating children of
all ages.
Jacquis cards will be available for purchase at two events this year. The first is the Brukner Nature Center Winter Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. til 4 p.m., located at 5995 Horseshoe
Bend Rd. in Troy (free admission). The other event is the 2nd Annual Wellness Holiday Gala on Sunday,
Dec. 11, noon til 5 p.m., held at Inspira Wellness II, 1471 S. Market St. in Troy. Admission: $5 presale
tickets or at the door (free drawing and Ningxia Red drink ticket included). Get your presale tickets or additional information on this not to be missed event at www.inspirawellness.com or at Inspira Wellness,

VOLUNTEERS AND NEW IDEAS

The library is looking for people willing to share a talent or skill with
our young patrons. Programs are a great way to share and teach and
we have many requests for things such as art, music, cooking, and science. We have access to program packs which come with essentials
for a particular program. Some program packs available are music,
stop animation science, cooking, book making, textiles, and circuit
science. We just lack the volunteers to implement them. If you have
any interest in helping out, or would like to know more, please call
473-2226. Wed love to hear from you!
LEGO GROUp
The last Monday of the month, Nov. 28, from 3:15-4 p.m., is our next
LEGO Group. Bring a friend, as well as your imaginations, and join
us for some LEGO building fun!

The Depot
In Need
of Support
The Depot does a wonderful job of providing a safe place
for our area youth and supplying them with nutritious meals.
They are hoping to receive assistance from area churches and
other organizations to help with
meals. Search your hearts and
see if you would be willing to
help with this worthwhile
cause. Between 45-50 kids are
served on Wednesday and Saturday nights. If your organization, church, or family would
be interested in providing a
meal for the Bradford youth,
please contact Athena Beachler
at 621-4995. Help is also desperately needed for volunteers
and delivery of meals
Are you seeking purpose,
enjoy building relationships,
sharing the gospel, or have a
calling to teach youth? The
Depot Youth Ministry is seeking committed volunteers to
serve our Bradford kids on
Wednesday evening. If you feel
like this is something you
would be interested in, please
contact Athena Beachler.
Also, the Manna Meal Ministry has provided meals to
those in the community who
can benefit from having one
meal a day delivered (3,704
meals were provided from June
thru August). Manna is a nonprofit organization that relies
on contributions. The only expenses are for supplies used.
They are seeking contributions.
Please contact your church office for additional information.
Your support is greatly appreciated!

Thanksgiving Wishes To All

On the eve of Thanksgiving, I would like to extend not only my gratitude but
many blessings as well, to all my readers, friends and loyal followers.
Thanksgiving is more than football games, enormous dinners, and naps. Its
the one day a year we should set aside to remember everything that God has
granted us through His love and the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus Christ.
The greatest gift to mankind was Jesus sacrifice dying on the cross for everyone who will believe and to have everlasting life.
Life is full of peaks and valleys. Its easy to cry for Gods help when were in
the valley of despair and trouble. Its just as easy to forget to honor God
when were high on the peaks of joy.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Why not take a few extra minutes to thank God for all the blessings He has given you this year? Say a special blessing for the meal youre about to consume. Ask everyone around
your table to say what theyre thankful for. Put meaning into a holiday that
means more than stuffing ourselves.
Instead of watching the football game, have everyone gather around the dining table and play a family game. Who knows? You might establish a new
family tradition.
Bill Gates says it like this, You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber
Monday. Theres another day you might want to know about: Giving Tuesday.
The idea is pretty straightforward. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shoppers
should take a break from their gift buying and donate what they can to charity.
Amy Grant advises, Thanksgiving Day is a good day to recommit our energies
to giving thanks and just giving.

on our cHurcH page?
The Stillwater Valley Advertiser is pleased to publish a church
page for our readers.
Many churches are now planning their Christmas services and
holiday programs. The Church Page will be published December
7, 14, and 21 to help Houses of Worship inform the community of
their holiday schedules and events.
Individual church ads will be two columns wide by two inches
and offered at a very nominal cost of just $30 to run all three
weeks leading up to Christmas or $20 to run just one time.
Contact our office at 937-473-2028 or 937-473-2029 and our office personnel will be happy to assist you.
You can also email our sales representative, Yvonne Welbaum, at
ywelbaum@gmail.com.

BNC Autumn Equinox Exhibit

Features Art of West Milton Native
Enjoy the remarkable paintings created by Megan Kishman, a
West Milton native, at Brukner Nature Centers Equinox Exhibit.
Megan is primarily an oil painter who now works out of her studio
in Louisville, Kentucky. She was first introduced to art by her parents
and received her first oil painting lessons from her grandmother. Her
art is inspired by the beauty of the world and many of her flower and
tree paintings are based on plants growing in her neighbors gardens
or nearby parks. Others are pulled from her travels throughout the
country.
A portion of all sales of the paintings throughout the exhibit will
support BNCs mission of wildlife conservation.
Free with paid admission to the Nature Center, located at 5995
Horseshoe Bend Rd., Troy.
