Salary: $22/hour
Status: variable hours as required by demand
Work hour requirements: A flexible schedule is necessary

Job Description

The successful candidate will deliver TREC Educations Green Collar Career
workshop in Calgary, working in a role that inspires high school youth to explore the
green energy industry and focus on helping create a sustainable future. The
facilitator will present the different opportunities for employment that revolve
around renewable energy and other environmental fields, the required education
for these careers, as well as, coordinate activities that further engage the youth into
their environmental career interests. Examples of green collar careers are: electrical
engineer, recycling coordinator, and wind turbine technician.
The Facilitator will occasionally deliver programs at community events, such as the
fairs and festivals in Alberta.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Workshop Facilitator will report directly to our Programs Manager. The
successful candidate will:

Deliver Green Collar Career workshops in schools. This includes preparing for
workshops in advance, travelling to workshop locations and setting up all required
supplies and equipment;
Represent TREC Education at outreach / community festival events throughout
the year across Alberta to facilitate activities;
Ensure education material is adequately stocked and maintained when new
supplies and replacements are required;
Communicate with teachers or event organizers to coordinate logistical
arrangements;
Administer program evaluation by communicating with teachers and other
participants to complete surveys following workshops;
Qualifications

An undergraduate degree in education, environmental science,
environmental studies, science, geography or equivalent career experience;
Experience in teaching and speaking to various age levels and diverse
audiences,
Familiarity with the Alberta Science and Technology Curriculum;
Knowledge of and passion for the science and technology of energy,
renewable energy, energy conservation and environmental issues;
Demonstrated communication skills (oral and written) and ability to interact
positively with various audiences;
Excellent time-management and organizational skills;
Ability to take initiative and be accountable for decisions;
Sense of humor and team oriented work ethic;
Adept at using Microsoft software, familiarity with Mac platforms and
electronics is an asset;
Ability to take initiative and be accountable for decisions;
Bilingual English/French is an asset
Reliable access to a vehicle is strongly preferred
Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required
