Sequence

Bancroft will distribute an approved method statement for the Electrical Testing to all
operatives involved in the Electrical Testing. This method statement is to be kept on the
operatives person for the duration of the works.
Bancroft will ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the approved design
drawings and technical specification.
Test equipment to be calibrated and test leads to conform to GS38, insulating gloves (1000v)
to be used when live testing switch panels
No persons shall carry out any electrical testing unless they are suitability qualified and
competent. S Binns will control the persons carrying out electrical testing
Operatives to have attended site induction presented by Site Management
Operative to meet specialist floor lifting contractor

Testing Procedure

All electrical testing is to be carried out under a Bancroft Permit to work scheme
Main Contractor (Como) will be notified of the areas that the testing will be carried out.
Barriers and warning notices are erected by the area in which the testing is to be carried out.
Bancroft will lock off the isolator for the DB / Sub-Main that is under test
Bancroft will then remove the board / isolator cover
Bancroft will prove that the installation is dead using a volt meter and proving unit
A visual inspection shall be carried on the DB board and Switch panel
Specialist floor lifting contractor to remove and replace selected floor tiles for access to under
floor electrical services for testing and inspection.
All testing is to be carried out as per the IEE Regulations 17th Edition 2008 Part 6 Chapter 62
Section 621 and IEE Guidance Notes 3

Dead Testing

Bancroft will carry out dead test for the sub-circuits / sub-mains.
Dead tests to be carried out: - Earth continuity
Verification of ring circuit continuity
Verify polarity
Insulation resistance (500v SP & 1000v TP)
Functional Switching

After completion of dead tests all incoming isolators and sub-circuit MCBs are to be
switched to the off position. And the main switch is to be locked off
Dead Test results are then recorded and filed at Bancroft Site office

Isolate circuit feeder

Remove cover to switch panel
Energise switch panel
Measure fault current and test on the single phase only. Value to be recorded x 2 (PFC)
Carry out a loop impedance test and record the value (Zdb)
Isolate Switch Panel and Replace cover
All outgoing ways will be locked out by tagging off the main switch/isolator

Sub-Mains Testing
1. Remove lock on Isolator/main switch and switch on
2. Visually verify the integrity of cable to be tested
3. Energise cable to be tested
4. Carry out Loop Impedance test at the circuit extremity and results recorded
5. Lock off on completion
Dist Board Sub-Circuits
1. Remove Lock from Sub-main and energise circuit
2. Remove lock on Isolator/main switch
3. Switch on the main isolator and sub-circuit MCB
4. Carry out Loop Impedance test at the circuit extremity and results recorded
5. Carry out associated RCD tests and record results
6. Lock off on completion
The state of the equipment shall be noted and sign off sheets shall be signed and validated by
Bancrofts commissioning manager, Como, Dome and MEIT will be invited to witness the testing
and will sign off as per the tests carried out.
Bancroft operatives are ensure all the above is satisfactory before commencement of any works
