Working Instruction for application of

the Cooper
B-Line Cable Tray
catalog data (SDL, HDL and HPL
Series) in PDMS Design (V11.6 & 12.x):
A.) Example PDMS Design / Usage with the Original (old) AVEVA Cable Tray
Function

1.) Create a Main Tray :

and set up some attributes ...

2.) Create a Cable Tray Branch :

And set up the geometric attributes / position of Head and Tail of branch

3.) Place a Cable Tray Fitting

Note : Elbows (horizontal and vertical) are displayed as Risers !

4.) Moving Components

Use the Function Model Editor

5.) Change Route

6.) Branch with Implied Tubes

7.) Branch with Fix Lenth Tubes

A.1) Automatic Filling with FixLength Tubes (only available in old Cable Tray
Function)

This function gives you the possibility to conmcentrate on the Fitting placement
only, the handling of the Fixlength tube items (between all fittings, and between

Head and first fitting or the last fitting and the tail) can be managed later after
the routing of cabletrays is finished.
If a re-Routing of an already filled Cable Tray is necessary, there is also an Un-fill
function with deletes al the fixlenth tube items and after finishing re-routing the
items can be set again, easily.
1.) Fill Complete Branch with Fixlength Tube items
a.) Routed Cable tray without fixlength tube items

b.) Open the Fill form

Set the branch (to be filled with Fixlength Tube items) as the current active
element and choose Fill Branch and apply with OK
Complete Branch should be filled with Fixlenth Tube items (between all fittings,
and between Head and first fitting abd between the last fitting and the tail of
branch)

2.) Empty Complete Branch from Fixlength Tube items

a.) Open the Un-Fill form

b.) Set the branch (to be filled with Fixlength Tube items) as the current active
element and choose Un-Fill Branch and apply with OK
For the Complete Branch all Fixlenth Tube items should be deleted again

3.) Fill an certain area between identified components

a.) Identify in flow direction two components (there could be other
components in between) and all implied tubes between them will be
filled with Ftubes

4.) Fill an certain area between identified components

a.) Identify in flow direction one component (there could be other components
between branch head and that) all implied tubes between head and the
identified fitting will be filled with Ftubes

5.) Fill an certain area between identified components

a.) Identify in flow direction one component (there could be other components
between branch that and branch tail) and all implied tubes between the
identified fitting and the branch tail will be filled with Ftubes

B.) Example PDMS Design / Usage with the Original (new) AVEVA Piping Function
(Specs are in the System twice with Extension *P indicated for selection in
the Piping Application)

1.) Create a Main Pipe (Cable Tray) :

and set up some attributes ...

2.) Create a Cable Tray Branch :

And set up the geometric attributes / position of Branch Head and Tail of a branch
:

3.) Place a Cable Tray Fitting

Note : More detail Information for the Part Selection

4.) Moving Components

Use the Function Model Editor

5.) Change Route

6.) Finish Branch

Menu path : Connect >> Branch

7.) Handling the Obstruction Volume :

Menu path : Settings >> Graphics

Menu path : Modify >> Properties

Note : Due to an unsolved problem in the Aveva PDMS Software the implied Tubes
are not set up with an ubstruction volume, just all the fittings (including the Fix
Length Tubes)

1.) Handling Fixlength Tubes (managing length) :

Note : The Length of an Fixlength Tube is able to be changed over the Height
