Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: Students will be in a unit of study that covers the challenges faced of a new
nation. This unit includes study of Articles of Confederation, study of major leaders, branches of
government, Bill of Rights, and War of 1812. This quick quiz will be a formative assessment to help judge
students knowledge of Bill of Rights after a few days of instructional activities and learning, and make
sure that further instruction is not needed to move on to War of 1812. It will be a preview for students as to
what kinds of questions they will see on their unit test over standard SS4H5, and can be used as a study tool
when start to study for their unit test.

SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity: Students will complete this quiz on a
Thursday during their Social Studies block. It will be the last activity of the social studies lesson for that
day, and is purposefully scheduled for the end of the week. This is done so that the teacher can analyze the
results of the quiz and make any needed adjustment for the next week Social Studies lesson plans. For
example, it is schedule to begin the War of 1812 that next week; however, if it is apparent that the majority
of the class was answering the same question wrong and some clarification was needed to further
understanding and mastery of the concepts, the teacher can then make those adjustments to review the next
week before moving on. Students will be asked to get their IPad, and login on to their Socrative account.
This will not be their first time taking a Socrative quiz, so they will know how to login on and use the site
to take a quiz. They will be given an allotted fifteen minutes to take the quiz, while it is for a grade it is not
weighted heavily, which is why a shorter amount of time is given. The students will know this, and they

will also have been aware from the beginning of their Bill of Rights study that they will take a quiz at the
end. This is simply either you know it or you dont.

[A. Amendment 4 / B. Amendment / C. Amendment 6 / D. Amendment 8]
8.) Amendment 2 is about Weapons. [A. True / B. False]

question is an short answer opinion question (#10). However, they can get it wrong if they incorrectly
describe the amendment.
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not? Although this assessment does serve to help the teacher know exactly how well the
students are understanding the concept, it is also for the students to help know where they are, and what
area they need to spend a little more time in studying. The students will be allowed to have a paper copy of
the quiz and its answer after all students have taken the quiz.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
(For example: Will information collected from this activity be used to award a grade? Will the individual
information collected be shared with students and/or parents to help them monitor individual progress?
Will you discuss the aggregate, anonymous data with the whole class to help them learn? Will you use data
to differentiate instruction for students, if so describe how.)
The data from this quiz will be used for instructional planning purposes (see description in area (describe
what will happen during SRS activity), it will be collected as a grade for the social studies area, and the
students will also receive a copy of the quiz to be used to help them monitor their own individual progress,
and use as a study tool for the end of unit of test.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: After the SRS activity the teacher will spend about five
minutes going over the right answer for the quiz, and answering any questions students had. The teacher
will later review the quizzes, and analyze the data to make any needed instruction planning changes for the
following week.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have
not tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?
You must design something that will help you learn something new. Honor system!) : This quiz is designed
to prepare students for their Unit Test. These question are not all simply question and answer, they are
purposely slight higher order questions, but not too complex. If a student knows the material, they will be
able to think and answer the question quickly. This activity will also help show students how knowing facts
(such as which amendments are which in the Bill of Rights), and how knowing those facts can help them in
real life.
