Summaries:

Oluremi introduces a view on different learning styles that is defined by

an individuals lifestyles and personality. He takes a deeper look into
observable strategies a person does while learning, such as problem
solving, decision-making behavior, and the restrictions that were
encountered throughout their individual learning process. Further into
the article it talks about how there are three main learning styles.
These main styles are visual, auditory and kinesthetic/tactile, each of
these styles is developed in different ways depending upon the person
and how they find success in learning. Visual learners learn by having
something put directly in front of them such as charts and diagrams.
Auditory learning is when people absorb knowledge better when
information is being given to them in a language format, such as a
lecture or tape recording. Kinesthetic learning means learning through
touch and activities that are more hands on.
As the article goes on it gets into the specific impacts of learning
styles such as noisy vs. quiet, formal vs. informal, bright vs. dark, and
environmental factors. By examining these factors it enables teachers
to communicate better with their students on an individual level. For
example during some research studies they tested to see if some
students worked better in noisy or quiet environment. They found that
few but some students actually thrived in a noisy environment, and for
those students teachers are able to help them achieve that without
disrupting the whole class. If movement or talking may not be
permitted in that specific environment, chewing gum or squeezing a
stress ball can appease the learners. By examining these different
environmental factors teachers and researchers are able to learn new
ways to control the environment so the student is successful.
The article also talks about how knowledge of ones own learning
style is essential so they can learn to learn the material given to them
in the way that pleases them. It explains how teachers should not only
teach their material, but also help the students find their own learning
preferences and provide helpful feedback. Teachers should experiment
with many different teaching methods in the classroom and see who
thrives at what. Once the teacher is able to observe their individual
students learning strengths they should cater to that and find activities
that would help them to learn the material better. There are many
different types of learning methods determined by a multitude if things
that occur in someones life and understanding this will help someone
be able to understand material and learn better according to Oluremi.
