3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes1. The goal is that the students will learn what a noun is and give examples
of them
2. The goal is that the students will learn what a verb is and give examples of
them
3. The goal is that the students can look at words and tell which is a verb and
which is a noun

4. Objectives1. Given the review in the beginning of the class, the student will be able to
recognize what a noun and verb is with 90% accuracy
2. Given the review material, the students will be able to look at a variety of
words and identify which is a noun or verb with 95% accuracy

5. Materials and Aids1. Smartboard

6. Procedures/MethodsA. Introduction1. Will begin smart tech software


2. Will review what a noun is

3. Will review what a verb is

B. Development1. The teacher will ask the students for examples


2. The students will come up and write examples of nouns on the whiteboard
3. The students will come up and write examples of verbs on the whiteboard

C. Practice1. The teacher will ask the students if they want to play a game
2. The first game will be 10 flashcards with words on them
3. The students will have to raise their hand and come up to the board and
figure out if the word is a noun or a verb

D. Independent Practice1. The teacher will introduce another game to the class
2. The game will consist of 10 words and the students will have to come up to
the board and match them to either the noun or the verb house.
3. The students will complete this independently with no help from the teacher
or their peers

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)1. If the student is an auditory learner, then the teacher would be able to
explain to the students what a noun and verb is and not doing it visually.
2. If the student is a visual learner, then the teacher can give out handouts and
have the students read about nouns and verbs instead.
3. If the student is a kinesthetic learner, then the teacher can do hands-on
activities for the students.

F. Checking for understanding1. The teacher will be able to see if the students understand once he/she asks
in the beginning of the lesson if the students can identify what a noun or verb
is

2. The teacher will be able to see if the students understand by the review of
nouns and verbs and the two games
3. After the review, the teacher will give the students an exam on nouns and
verbs and he/she will be able to see if the students retained the information
that they were taught and see if they understand

G. Closure1. Check to see if there are any questions


2. If there are no questions, then they will move into next activity
