Anil and Somi were my closest friends. Anil lived in a crowded lane off the Dilaram Bazar. He was wild
and little dangerous, subject to moods and impulses, but he had a certain animal charm. Somi, on the
other hand, was sensitive, gentle in his ways, but in common with Anil he had a sense of fun and an
instinct for adventure. They usually chose the adventures we were to have and I would grumble and
allow myself to be involved in them. But the pool was my own discovery, I was proud of it.

They had just finished singing it for the third time when Squealer, attended by two dogs, approached
them to say something important. He announced that Napoleon had abolished 'Beasts of England'. From
now onwards it was forbidden to sing it.

The animals were taken aback. They wanted to know why.

"It's no longer needed, comrades," said Squealer stiffly. 'Beasts of England' was the song of the
Rebellion. But the Rebellion is now completed. The execution of the traitors this afternoon was the final
act. The enemy both external and internal has been defeated. In 'Beasts of England' we expressed our
longing for a better society in days to come. But that society has now been established. Clearly this song
has no longer any purpose."

Read the following passage and make notes:

Zika virus is transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito from the Aedes genus,
mainly Aedes aegypti in tropical regions. This is the same mosquito that transmits dengue,
chikungunya and yellow fever. It was first identified in Uganda in 1947 in rhesus monkeys. It was
subsequently identified in humans in 1952 in Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. Outbreaks
of Zika virus disease have been recorded in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific. The
incubation period of Zika virus disease is not clear, but is likely to be a few days. The symptoms are
similar to other arbovirus infections such as dengue, and include fever, skin rashes, conjunctivitis,
muscle and joint pain, and headache. These symptoms are usually mild and last for 2-7 days. Infection
with Zika virus may be suspected based on symptoms and recent history (e.g.: residence or travel to
an area where Zika virus is known to be present). The diagnosis can only be confirmed by
laboratory testing of blood or other body fluids, such as urine or saliva. Prevention and control relies
on reducing mosquitoes through source reduction (removal and modification of breeding sites) and
reducing contact between mosquitoes and people. This can be done by using insect repellent;
wearing clothes (preferably light - coloured) that cover as much of the body as possible; using
physical barriers such as screens, closed doors and windows; and sleeping under mosquito nets. It is
also important to empty, clean or cover containers that can hold water such as buckets, flower pots or
tyres, so that places where mosquitoes can breed are removed. Special attention and help should be
given to those who may not be able to protect themselves adequately, such as young children, the sick
or elderly. During outbreaks, health authorities may advise that spraying of insecticides be carried
out. Travellers should take the basic precautions described above to protect themselves from
mosquito bites. Zika virus disease is usually relatively mild and requires no specific treatment. People
sick with this virus should get plenty of rest, drink enough fluids, and treat pain and fever with
common medicines. If symptoms worsen, they should seek medical care and advice. There is
currently no vaccine available.
