At long last!

Dale Borgen finally did it. He popped his first-ever perfect

game (300) in Tuesday NIght Mens bowling on lanes 7 & 8
at El Cor Del Lanes, in which he and his wife Donna have
owned and operated since 1996 (21 years this January).
The 300 occurred on his final game of the evening. Was he
nervous? You know, I really wasnt, he said, as he had
been knocking on the door three previous times in the past,
once with a 298 and hitting the 299 twice. Dale, bowling

on the Scottie Express Wash team, also added that one of

his favorite songs the country tune It Wont Go Down
was blazing on the juke box and he was relaxed in that
10th frame. In fact, as soon as he released 12th and final
ball, he knew he had it. It might have been just a wee bit
right, but I knew it was in the pocket, he said. And when
all the pins did go down, the place erupted. The 300 also
helped to cap off a dandy 736 series. Congrats, Dale!

If you have any questions, call the Glasgow Police
Department.

November Weather Wrap-up

Temperatures for November were well above

normal, but the month was drier than normal, according
to the National Weather Service in Glasgow.
In fact, it was the 5th warmest November on record.
Just 0.06 of an inch of precipitation fell in Glasgow
during the month, which was 0.34 inch below normal.
The highest amount fell on the 14th with 0.06 inch, and
this was also the only measurable rainfall of the month.
Light snow was recorded on three days of the month,
although only a trace was recorded on each of these
instances.
The average temperature for the month was 39.8
degrees, which was 10.5 degrees warmer than normal.
The average high was 50.6 degrees, with an average low
of 29.1 degrees. The warmest temperature of the month
was 67 degrees which was reached on the 3rd and the
9th. The coldest temperature of the month was 21
degrees reached on five days: the 17th, 18th, 19th, 26th,
and 30th. Worthy to note, this is the only November on
record in which the low temperature did not drop below
20 degrees. Previously, the warmest low temperature
during November was 18 degrees, which occurred in
1999 and 1962.
The wind gusted to 30 mph or greater on 11 days,
with a peak wind of 48 mph on the 6th.
Looking ahead to this month, normal high
temperatures in December start out in the lower 30s
with lows in the lower teens. By the end of the month,
normal highs are in the lower 20s with lows in the mid
single digits. So it will be interesting in looking ahead
to the December Weather Wrap-up to see how next
weeks temperatures, forecast to be below 10 for highs
by Tuesday, will come into play.
Moisture for the month of December averages 0.38
of an inch with an average snowfall of 8.0 inches.

Before your too Damned Old

As we enter the final month of 2016, heres a little poem
for yall:
Another year has passed and were all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter and winter seems much colder.
There was a time not long ago when life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand about Living in the Past
We used to go to weddings, football games and lunches.
Now we go to funeral homes, and after-funeral brunches.
We used to have hangovers, from parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches and while the night away.
We used to go out dining, and couldnt get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags, come home and take a pill.
We used to often travel to places near and far.
Now we get sore asses from riding in the car.
We used to go to nightclubs and drink a little booze.
Now we stay home at night and watch the evening news.
That, my friend is how life is and now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up...
before youre too damned old!
Montanas license plates (non-vanity) start with a
number between 1 and 56, with the numbers being each
countys population rank back in 1930. The first eight
counties were, #1 Silver Bow (Butte), #2 Cascade (Great
Falls), #3 Yellowstone (Billings) #4 Missoula, #5 Lewis
& Clark (Helena), #6 Gallatin (Bozeman), #7 Flathead
(Kalispell), and #8 Fergus (Lewistown).
Only counties #1 through #4 were accurate; the
other 52 counties were numbered in a jumble, probably
depending on who paid off whom.
If the 2000 census were used to re-order the
numbering of licence plates, it would look like this: #1
Yellowstone, #2 Missoula, #3 Cascade, #4 Flathead, #5
Gallatin, #6 Lewis & Clark, #7 Ravalli (Hamilton), and
#8, Silver Bow.

Governor Bullock forms Rapid Response Team to address AIS

Meeting next Thursday in Glasgow

Montana Governor Steve Bullock issued an

executive order on Wednesday declaring a statewide
natural resource emergency for Montana water bodies
due to the detection of the larvae of invasive aquatic
mussels at Tiber Reservoir and suspected detections
at Canyon Ferry Reservoir and the Milk and Missouri
rivers. The signing of the Executive Order triggers the
deployment of an interagency rapid response team to
respond to the emerging situation.
Aquatic invasive species (AIS) are a serious threat
to Montanas critical infrastructure and economy. The
deployment of the multi-agency rapid response team
will work quickly to identify and contain existing mussel
populations, and prevent future introduction to other
water ways, Bullock said. The potential economic,
ecological and recreational impacts for Montana and
our region must be addressed quickly and every effort
must be taken to prevent the additional spread of this
threat.
Bullock has directed the Montana Invasive Species
Advisory Council, Department of Natural Resources
and Conservation, and Montana Department of Fish,
Wildlife & Parks, to form a coordinated Rapid Response
Team to immediately respond to the situation.
Weve been working statewide and regionally for
decades to prevent the introduction of aquatic invasive
mussels into Montana, said incident commander
Matthew Wolcott, who is leading the rapid response
team. With these detections were quickly transitioning
from prevention efforts to a control and containment
strategy to protect Montana water bodies and others
within region.

Montana is a headwater state for three regionally

significant river systems and the economic,
environmental and recreational impacts of an invasive
aquatic mussel infestation has national implications.
The location of the detections, the value of the fisheries
and recreational resources, the proximity to critical state
infrastructure such as hydroelectric dams, municipal
water supplies, and irrigation structures require an
effective and coordinated response.
Montana has prepared for this event and has the
response structure in place, said Bryce Christiaens,
chair of the Governors Council on Invasive Species and
a member of the response team. With the support from
the Governor and of regional invasive species partners,
we have the ability to respond with an intense and
coordinated effort.
A meeting to address AIS concerns will be held at
the Glasgow Elks Lodge on Thursday, in conjunction
with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and Montana
Walleyes Unlimited. FWPs Steve Dalby and Montana
Walleyes Unlimited President Elect, Mary Humbert
(she officially takes office April 8th at the WU Banquet
in Glasgow) will head up the meeting.
