ANTHONY PARSONS AND GEMMA SAVIO

Having graduated from the University of

Newcastle in 2012, Anthony and Gemma now
mix practice with further architectural
studies.
For their My Ideal House entry, they designed
an adaptable and flexible house, featuring a
reimagined suburban backyard. Moving the
backyard into an enclosed courtyard, Anthony
and Gemma say "it quite literally becomes
the centre of the owners' lifestyle".
Along with using cost-effective materials and
a disciplined planning grid for the proposed
build, this courtyard concept also allows
sunlight to flow into every room of the house,
while high-set windows further promotes light
and cross-ventilation.
SOPHIE DYRING AND CATHERINE RANGER
With local and international projects, as well
as public, private and residential work, Sophie
and Catherine have clocked up almost 30
years' experience in the architecture industry
between them.
Placing thoughtful consideration into building
a home for the future - evident in the

sustainable,
drought-tolerant
landscaping
incorporated into their design - Sophie and
Catherine believe that with society becoming
more and more time-poor, it's important for
people to be able to get back to nature.
"That's why we have brought nature into the
home environment," they say.
Sophie and Catherines plan features three
external spaces that connect seamlessly with
the interiors. They say adaptability is central
to their design. [This] allows people to stay in
their homes, and therefore their community,
as the household changes over time.
