The kids in KG2 Take a phonics as a diagnostic assessment length of the
academic year. The teacher does a diagnostic assessment at the end of
six weeks of teaching then inform the parent what they learned and what
the sound the child known it so they can support their kids at home.
The type of assessment child does it look at the sound and say what
sound is and from that, we will know with the six periods of teaching they
know this sounds. After that informed parents what we need to do next.
The phonics assessment comes from the letters sounds documents which
are UK documents, and also the literacy co-workers of school part of
management and she come and tell the teachers how they can develop
assessments. The teacher conducted her assessment by herself because
she knows how it effective her teaching and what the individual child
needs to take him to the next step and she can see the full picture of what
required.
The teacher gets them some feedback contently, when she doing phonics
in whole class situation assessment, but when I want to find out which
letters which sound they know they have to be individual.
Where the child is what he learned and how much they need to know and
what I need to do to help the child.
Some kids have not learnt all the sound, so they need extra support with
EAL teachers. Some children show me they leant all the sound and them
already to blend word and segment word.
The students did all assessments, individuals because the child has known
all the sound. When the teacher observed they know all the sound, they
can do group work.
Ask student individually different question depends on their abilities.
Some children like Ahmad he not strong in counting the teacher work with
him alone to improve.

After the Task - Reflection

Reflect on the interview and the information gained about diagnostic
assessment from your MST. Consider how/why you would implement
diagnostic assessment in a UAE primary classroom in the future. Explain
how this practice will affect student learning in a primary class.
A diagnostic assessment is very helpful for the teacher to show how kid works in a school
and what he knows, what he wants to know and what learned from the beginning of the
semester until he graduates. So the teacher has to prepare the diagnostic assessment for the
child it supports teacher to plan her lesson. It shows her how to deal with this child what the
teaching method. That she has to uses it, what the strategies help her in class to improve her
teaching, it an evident of child level and chart show the parents and teacher if the student
needs more time or work to understand or he does well in class. According to Dumit, 2012
helping students meet certain standards using the assessment data to identify strengths and
weaknesses in student performance, and to improve the quality of teaching and learning also
it helps the child to know in which level he in. Now we are aware how the diagnostic
assessment is necessary.
As Dumit, 2012 said A distinct form of measurement. Its purpose is to ascertain, before
instruction, each students strengths, weaknesses knowledge, and skills.
Establishing these permits the instructor to remediate students and adjust the curriculum to
meet each learners unique needs. So from that and in teaching practice I recognize how
diagnostic work in school. In the teaching it better to solve problems from the beginning, so if
we noticed the kid need to strengthen the weak points in primary education, he could do well
in next stage because the teacher knows his weakness and help him to learn so he will learn
from previous mistakes.
It hard for a teacher to delivering information to the 20 students in same time, because, there
are different levels in class different learning style so by using this diagnostic assessment. It
helps her in teaching, and she can keep it with her as documents or her achievements in the
year.
