I assisted the principal with a discipline issue on campus where a student in

the BD unit had assaulted another student in class. The student who was
assaulted was escorted to the discipline center while the aggressor was
handcuffed and detained at the campus police office. The principal asked the
student for a statement and directed the BD teacher to get his students
working on an assignment. The parents were contacted after the students
discussed the incident and wrote down statements of the occurrence.

I assisted the administration this week in the cafeteria during student

lunches. I was asked to circulate around the cafeteria making sure
students didnt get out of hand. A lot of the student bodies were either
talking to their friends, playing cards or viewing there phones. I
talked to most of the students during the lunch about their day and
about the food that day at the school.

Cafeteria Monitoring
I got to experience Saturday school where Mr. Juarez informed me that there

were four classes where students came to either make up absences or

receive tutoring for classes that they were failing. Students had a morning
break where they came outside of the school in the front. While this is
going on painters were there as well painting the stair railings in the school.
It seems as Mr. Juarez was the only administrator on the campus. Other
students were going on field trips to competition or a soccer game.

Saturday School monitoring

I Monitored and supervised the dismissal in front of building
after school. I directed the students to exit the building.
Some of the students were going to tutoring and to sports
practice at the gym or field. I was urprised of how much
goes on afterschool and the duties that are expected from
certain teachers at the secondary.

I monitored the cafeteria during the first lunch and the

second lunch. Students had their cell phones out which
clearly violated the rules for the lunch period. I did ask why
this wasnt enforced but did not get a clear answer.
I Presented to Life skill, CBVE, and ETC teachers on WorkBased Learning. This is tied into the students Transition plan
in their IEP. Students are visited every year to discuss their
goals and career goals after graduating.
I presented to District Substitute on Differentiation in the
Classrooms. I thought this was very beneficial for the
substitutes to be able to provide strategies to students that
are struggling in the classroom. This was very exciting to be
able to help students through intervention strategies for
students.
Attended a Special Ed Life Skills Staffing to discuss students
behavior in the gen ed classroom. Teachers were having
difficulties with the student when the student was assigned
a task. It seemed to me that teachers were not following
student IEP plan already in place.
I followed up a concern with student at Edgewood Transition
Center the student had made threats to another student.
The interesting thing about this student was that the
teachers had already had previous conversations with the
students parent. The aunt was in custody which was a
tough conversation to have with her.
I participated with campus administrator meeting regarding
discipline issue with a BD student. The administrator had
already discussed the students behavior earlier in the day.
The student seemed to have a bad behavior in which he
didnt care much about his consequence or actions.
I presented to the Memorial staff on Verbal de-Escalation. I discussed the
different strategies and the process used to defuse student negative
behaviors in class. I started the presentation by having teachers work in
groups. The teachers identified the top three behaviors they see every day in
class. The teachers all reported out from there groups and we had
discussions about the importance of recognizing the antecedents of these
behaviors reported out.

strategies
I have been directed by my director to attend the high school ARDs and
facilitate these ARDs as an administrator. I sat and listened to the special
Ed teachers report out there reports on the students IEP. The parent and the
student interacted with the teachers in developing the IEP. I asked questions
when I felt that the parents question wasnt answered. I expected for
teachers to be helpful and focused in developing and developing the student
IEP.
I was asked to attend a Lead Teacher meeting. The district
Coordinator met with all district facilitators to discuss
procedures and expectations for them. It seemed that some
of the facilitators were overwhelmed.
I attended and represented the campus administrator in
these meetings. Parents were friendly and asked several
questions regarding their childs grades and class
assignments.
I attended the High school ARD meeting scheduled for this
month. I was asked to know the administrator role as far as
knowing procedures and schedules at the district level.
I went to the local HEB grocery store to follow up on the ETC teacher and
students. This is a work base learning program geared to teach students job
experiences at the jobsites. This is a program I oversee. The students were
working on an aisle stocking can vegetables. The Job coach assured me
students knew what was expected and she helped the students align the cans
on the shelf. Students didnt seem confident in completing these tasks and
the work experience was not as good as it could have been. I talked to the
teacher to provide helpful criticism to provide him with some ideas and
direction of the purpose of the student being at HEB. I stated to the teacher
that more responsibility needs to place on the student.
Monitored ETC students at the community HEB store
I participated in the campus ARD. The ARD scheduled for
today were Annuals. The teachers were well prepared and
they took the time to explain and answer all the questions
from the parents attending these ARD.
I Participated with Staff at ETC meeting regarding

expectations and jobsites. I reviewed expectations and

monitoring procedures for students at the jobsites. Students
that are going into the community are expected to grow and
learn several skills that will help them in future jobs.
I ATTENDED AN Annual graduation ARD where the teacher
reviewed students goals for after graduating. Students
asked questions and parents asked about graduation and
future services.
I was asked to sit in as an administrator at ARDs scheduled
at the high schools. I reviewed and provided input as per
ARDs and parent questions during the ARD. Staff knew their
roles and provided valuable information to parents.
I participated with Sp Ed Director in Program Planning. I met
with my director to review our 18+ program. We looked at
student instruction and supports in these areas. We also
looked at students current grades and credits that they has
already earned.
Participated in a discussion with the CATE director and Special Ed director
in exploring options for students choosing CATE courses. The concern with
these courses is that some special ed students need the course modified and
extra support in the classroom. The barriers in the CATE courses are that
the district has a lottery for the students and criteria that make it difficult for
special ed students to enroll in these courses. We agreed to continue the
conversations in the coming weeks to brainstorm options for special ed
students.
Participated in a meeting with CATE director and Sp Ed
director to discuss CATE courses for next school year
I presented to Wrenn Middle school and Gus Garcia Middle school this
week to review and discuss SPP 13 and 14 to all the Special Ed teachers on
these campuses. I reviewed the Transition supplement on Esped and
answered questions from the teachers. I also made folders with all the
information presented to all the teachers to have and use when conducting
ARDs. I also lead conversations in expectations on the Transition
supplement and how they will be audited after March. Teachers were
receptive and participated with the training.

I attended and was the acting administrator for 2 graduation ARDs. I
provided guidance in regards to transition and planning for students
transitioning into college. I also interacted with the parent and student at the
ARD to answer their questions about timelines for college acceptance and
registration. I also advised the parents about the American Disability Act,
which they are entitled to as students enrolled in college.

supplement and how they will be audited after March. Teachers were
receptive and participated with the training.
Attended / Facilitated 3 Special Education Transition ARDS
I facilitated Special Education ARDs throughout the day. I
made sure all committee members were present and that
we stayed on topic. The teachers were scheduled in an hour
intervals to allow enough time for parents and staff to
communicate and discuss concerns.
I Participated with Sp Ed Director and Region 20 Specialists
in an Audit to review PBMAS indicators 13 and 14. It was
interesting to see the different areas of a students ARD that
impact these audits. Teachers must understand how to
make sure that they are in compliance with their ARD.
Participated in an Audit on Indicator 13 at the High school
which I reviewed ARDs to monitor and review correct
information was addressed in students IEP.
I Participated in a district meeting to review District Needs
Assessment. The objective was to review the needs of the
campuses to improve student performance. This was
interesting because we got to review data and look at
campus strategies and schedules.
I participated in a discussion with the CATE director and Special Ed director
in exploring options for students choosing CATE courses. The concern with

Facilitated a Refresher Training on CPI course
I facilitated two life skill ARDs. The ARDs addressed student
services and schedules. I taught that the teachers did a
good job of explaining all services that the students required
in their current classes and future classes. They also
reviewed transition plans which I felt were crucial for student
success.
I participated in a district meeting to review District Needs
Assessment. This was an important meeting to review
student performance and discuss what other supports are
needed. I felt comfortable sharing my views and ideas.
I participated and presented in a Sp Ed Parent Resource Fair.
Our district provides a yearly fair for parents to gain
information. I think that the fair is held to late in the school
year. Some of the information that is provided is too late
and deadlines for some of the services are too late and
already passed in January.
I participated with Testing Coordinator with EOCs policy and
procedure at the secondary. Student end of Year
assessments re very important because it could mean if a
student graduates or not. It is important that all supports
are addressed and careful considerations need to be
reviewed for each student.
I attended and facilitated 4 Special Education Transition
ARDS. During these ARDs its important for the teachers to
review student career pathways and decisions in regards to
what they want to pursue after they graduate. Teachers
have to look at supports needed to transition to the Postsecondary.
I attended and facilitated 2 Life Skills staffings. One of the
thing that stands out for me is that the two teachers have
different styles of presenting information to the parents.
One of the teachers uses data while the other teachers uses
examples of student work thats hard to follow of where she
is going with samples.
I met with Dr. Guido the director of NEISD to review the 18+
