PROCEDURE
Introduction
(2 min):
We are going to be reading about the sneezy snowman and then creating our
own snowmen
Teacher explains expected behaviour to students

(3 min.):
Learning Activity #1
Follow allow with the reading of The Sneezy Snowman on the SMARTboard
(10 min.):
Prompt students throughout book to brainstorm ideas about what could melt a
snowman

(5 min.):
Show the handout with the question My snowman melted because and let
the students know that when they receive their sheet to write their name on
the top right hand corner and an explanation as to why their snowman melted
Ask students to get out pencil only

Students write their explanation and have a teacher check their spelling, etc.
before we move on
Assessment: Students ability to come up with their own ideas about why their
snowman melted
Accommodations: Teacher walks around to assist students with writing their
explanation

along instructions and participate as a class and work cooperatively with their
neighbours.

LEVEL ONE

Once students have their explanation, teacher passes out materials. Once
plastic plates are handed out and all parts of the snowman, teacher explains
how we are going to use the materials before giving each group shaving
cream and glue
Students work together to share the paint brush and shaving cream/glue to
smear on their page and scatter the pieces of their snowman
Let dry
Accommodations: Teacher walks around to assist students with creation of
snowman and using materials appropriately
Assessment: Students ability to work within a group
