Volunteer Positions and Times (Continued)
Evening Activities Hosts: 2 hours. 6:30-8:30 pm. 2-3 people or families.
Sunday 6/27 through Saturday, 7/3.
Evening hosts plan and conduct children's activities, help with homework,
or assist a guest with a particular need. We have use of the gymnasium for
activities, and possibly have access to laundry facilities. This is also a time
for the families to take showers in the gym.
Overnight Hosts: 10-11 hours, 8 pm-6:30 am. 1-2 people or a family.
Sunday 6/27 through Saturday, 7/3
Hosts must be over the age of 18. Parents can bring their youngerschool age
children. Hosts spend the night at Madonna Hall. Beds will be set up in a
separate classroom that is off limits to the families. Hosts can bring sleeping
bags, pillows, or blankets for their use. Overnight hosts spend time with the
guests, help children with homework, and are available in case of
emergency. They wake the families at 6:00 or earlier as needed for the
families to prepare for breakfast and get ready to leave for work or the 1HN
Agency. Some hosts have brought breakfast.
If you are interested in any of above volunteer positions you must sign
up in the designated date and time on the poster board located in Holy
Family Hall or call one of us.
There are other ways to you can help with the IHN Homeless ministry.
Some other ways are:
Supplies: Volunteers can purchase the food staples for snacks, lunches,
breakfast, and drinks, paper products, cleaning supplies and
otherneeded items.
Activities: Volunteers plan and organize special activities and events, such
asarts-and-crafts projects, video parties, and outings for the
children and families.
Donations: Monies can be donated to OLPH to be used to purchase the
above mentioned supplies. Volunteers, in coordination with the
IHNI Agency, collect, coordinate, organize, and/or provide
clothing, furniture, and household items which are distributed
to the families once they are settled in permanent housing.
