Atlanta International Dance Festival Announces Lineup

Atlanta, GA. The Artistic Director of the Atlanta International Dance Festival, Cara Collier,
unveiled the lineup for the festivals inaugural year today. The festival will feature nine
international dance companies, four Atlanta-based companies, and three New York-based
companies.
Performances will be held at three prominent Atlanta arts venues The Rialto
Theatre at Georgia State University, the Goat Farm Arts Center, and the High Museum of Art.
Tickets will be sold on the festivals website atlinternationaldancefest.org, and at each
venues box office.
The festival will open Friday, December 2, with the Israel-based Kibbutz
Contemporary Dance Company presenting two of their most prominent works. The
program will repeat Saturday, December 3. Both the Friday and Saturday night
performances will be held at the Rialto Theatre.
On Sunday, December 4, AIDF will present the Australian Dance Theatre performing
a brand new site-specific work at the High Museum of Art.
Brooklyn-based Hivewild is an up-and-coming company with local roots. Katherine
Maxwell, the companys artistic director, and dancer Zachary Richardson are both graduates
of Kennesaw State Universitys Dance Department. They will make their Atlanta premiere
on Monday, December 5 at the Goat Farm Arts Center.
Israeli dance group Vertigo Dance Company will return to Atlanta for their third
performance at the Rialto Theatre. They will present their work Vertigo 20 on
Tuesday, December 6.

Company Wang Ramirez will make their Atlanta debut at the Rialto Theatre
Wednesday, December 7. The French contemporary hip-hop duo has received wide acclaim
the last two years at the American Dance Festival.
An exciting feature of the program will be Local Night, an evening of dance
presented by four Atlanta dance companies gloATL, Staibdance, Emily Cargill and Dancers,
and T. Lang Dance. All proceeds of the Thursday, December 8 show at the Goat Farm Arts
Center will go directly back to the companies.
On Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 the Nederlands Dance Theatre
will present the famous work Petite Mort, choreographed by Jiri Kylian, along with two
other pieces.
Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion and Madboots Dance, both based in New York
City, return to Atlanta for performances at the Rialto on Sunday, December 11 and Monday,
December 12 respectively.
The final three performances of the Atlanta International Dance Festival will be held
at the Goat Farm Arts Center with each company making their Atlanta performance debut.
Hailing from Russia, Provincial Dances Theatre offers a unique evening of dance
influenced by Russian folk theatre on Tuesday, December 13. On Wednesday, December 14
the Bereishit Dance Company from Seoul, South Korea presents a blend of b-boy, acrobatic,
and contemporary dance.
Finally, the inaugural season of AIDF will close with a performance from the Hofesh
Shechter Company out of London on Thursday, December 15. The Goat Farm will host a
reception immediately following the performance to celebrate the season.
Artistic Director Cara Collier said she is eager to present Atlanta with such an
abundance of international companies that the city has not yet been exposed to. That is truly
the goal of this festival to introduce Atlantas residents to great contemporary dance and
realize how exciting dance can be!
