Newsweek. N.p., 05 Mar. 2016. Web. 01 Dec. 2016

In this article Robert Wald Sussman gives his ideas on how biological races are not real
but yet Racism still exist in countries around the world. He says that racism has been going on
for so long that it has embedded into our culture and people think its true. For 500 years we
have been people have been taught about racism and that it is in our everyday life. This is a bad
thing to do since people learn how some races came before and others are better, lives are
affected by this everyday. We are born into racism and since we learn about it we think that its
the right thing to do. Anthropologists have shown that there are no human behaviors that differ
from everyone else that people think its a racial thing. In 1950, the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) stated that all humans belong to
the same species and race is nothing but a myth. Leaders from middle ages used racism as a
way to control their followers on how to live their day to day lives. People stuck to that and is
used today in many countries around the world.

This article written by Aisha Sarvana states the importance of learning your cultural
background. Many people today tend to forget their cultural background and where they came
from. Families from all over the world come to the united states to find opportunities and adopt
the American culture and forget their own. English is becoming very popular while other
languages are fading away, this makes it important to learn where you came from. Learning your
cultural background can help you find yourself and be unique amongst others. Culture plays an
important role as shaping our morals and its what ties a community together. Knowing multiple
languages also makes the brain stronger, having this is considered a skill. Skills and cultural
traits are what make us diverse and unique from others. Cultural background can help you find
yourself and it influences us from day to day fro how we act, what we wear, and what we eat.
Culture is always being added to peoples lives as they accustom themselves to their
surroundings. Knowledge of cultural background can help understand other people and how they
act. Culture is a way of finding yourselfs and communities that share the same traits.

Other Cuktures. Quora, 30 May 2015. Web. 1 Dec. 2016.

In this article by Richard Steiner he explores different reasonings to why one should learn
other cultures aside from their own. One of the reasons was understanding why they act a certain
way. Other people from different cultures could act a certain way that may seem odd. Cultures
can have different perspectives on things and what is socially acceptable. Another reason is
learning where they came from. Learning where an individual came from can help build stronger
relationships with the person and learn some similarities cultures from both ends might have.
That can be very helpful in building these stronger relations and having things in common.

Especially living in an area where its very diverse and understanding others and where they
came from. Some cultures are known to be bad but its just certain individuals that make it seem
that way. Many blame them for certain acts those individuals do and attack the whole culture
when its not their fault. Better understanding of people background can spread positivity.

Classrooms Can Benefit All Students." The Century Foundation. N.p., 15 Apr. 2016.
Web. 01 Dec. 2016.
https://tcf.org/content/report/how-racially-diverse-schools-and-classrooms-can-benefitall-students/
In this article by Amy, Laura, and Diana show the benefits a student can have going to a
diverse school. Schools are becoming a lot more diverse and we need to look at the educational
benefits it has on students such as cognitive, social, and emotional. Students learn more of
different cultural background and create some sort of respect for their peers. Research has
showed that a well diverse environment helps the students have better actions in higher
education. Schools in the previous years have become very separate and unequal to where it is
affecting students negatively. Having the exposure to diversity helps bring the school and
students together as they are around different people with different cultures. Understanding those
cultures can help them improve their social skills and help them relate with others to build
relationships. Knowing their backgrounds grows respect for individuals as they know where they
came from and know how unique they are.

In this article by Peter Lorain he explains some steps toward fixing and promoting a safe
environment. School environment can lead to students exchanging racial slurs and end up
fighting or making threats. Learning more of the individual's background can help build stronger
relationships and create a stronger and safr environment. One can also advertise a day consisting
of zero tolerance and introducing yourself to someone new. This can spread positivity and maybe
pursue some people to add more positivity to their daily life. Signs can be hung up around
campuses and notifying students of this day. Teachers can also promote positivity in lessons to
remind students to be happy and not negative toward people. This will create a safe environment
and it will build new or stronger relationships with the people that surround you.
