emesterLongMultimodalInquiryProject,wehaveplannedontalkingabout
howreligion,orthelackof,hasimpactedourlivesinvariousways.Bothofushavenotchosena
religioninwhichweidentifywith,whichhasbroughtustorealizethatwehavemoresimilarities
thanwethought.Withinourprojectweplanonincludingourownindividualstandpointsonhow
weperceivereligion,aswellasincludingavarietyofinterviewsthatwepersonallyconductwith
ourpeersabouttheirexperience.TheprojectwillbepresentedviaGoogleSlides,whichwill
helpusorganizetheinformationintodifferentcategories,aswellasintegratetheinterviewswe
planonperforming.
Ourtopichascurrentrelevanceinthesocietyweliveintoday,beingthatsomanypeople
areblindedbyignorancethatstemsfromthelackofknowledgeonthistopic.Evensomeleaders
thathaveariseninourownnationpromotehatred,andviolenceuponthepeoplethatresidein
thiscountry.Itisimportanttospreadthismessage,thatthoughweallmayhavedifferent
standpoints,eachpersonisentitledtothedignityandrespectthattheydeserve,whetherornot
theirviewscorrelatewithourown.Throughouttheworld,manynationshaveconstrictedtheir
citizenstoonlyasinglemindedconceptastohowlifeoperates.Thiscanincludeanythingfrom
thereligiouspersecutioninNorthKorea,tothedailybeheadingsofinnocentMuslims.Wars
havebeenraged,andthepassionthatpeoplecontainintheirheartsforwhattheybelievetobea

divinedeityhasencouragedthemostbeautiful,andincredulousacts.Tounderstandreligion,and
whatdrivespeopletodedicatetheirlifeandbeingtoaconceptisacomplexstudythatwewill
attempttotackle.
Theroleswehaveassignedeachotherforthetimebeingarerelativelyloose.Sincethe
projectwillbecreatedonGoogleSlides,thetaskswillbeequallysharedbetweenthetwoofus.
Eachofusknowatleastonepersonwhowillbewillingtocontributetotheinterviewsectionfor
thereligionsweplanoninvestigatingfurther,inadditiontoincorporatinginterviewsfrom
randompeoplewhoarealsowillingtoparticipate.Thereligionsthatweplantoencompassin
thisprojectinclude:Christianity,Hinduism,Wicca,andAtheism.Theseexamplesarewhatwe
havesetinstoneforthetimebeing,thoughwearecurrentlyworkingonrecruitingmorepeople
thatpracticedifferentthingssuchas:Scientology,Judaism,andBuddhism.Theinterviewswill
beeitherfacetoface,oroveraprogram,suchasSkypeorFacetime.Fortheonesthatarenot
facetoface,andcannotberecorded,ascriptoftheinterviewwillbeincluded.Bothofusplanon
beingpresentforeachinterview.Toensurethatwearestayingontopofthisproject,andkeeping
theduedateinmind,wehaveplannedtomeetatleastonceaweektocollaborateonourrecent
ideas,assignroles,andgivefurtherupdatestoourprogress.
Wehopethatthetakeawaymessagefromthisprojectisoneofunderstanding.Assaid
before,itisimportanttohaltignorancewillknowledge.Thereisnobetterwaytodothatthanby
understandingthosearoundyou,andacceptingthethingsthatcomposestheirindividuality.
Whetherornotonefindsthemselvesinagreeancewiththeseprinciples,findingawaytolivein
toleranceisawaythatpromotespeace,insteadofpersecutingotherpeopleforthevaluesthat
theyholddearintheirhearts.
