Aspa. "Prevention at School." Prevention at School. ED.gov, June 2014. Web. 30 Nov. 2016.
In this article, Aspa writes about the benefits of addressing bullying in schools before it
actually starts with the help of teachers and students together. She brings up ideas that may be
possible to help reduce bullying at school by having current prevention and intervention efforts
and gauging the effectiveness in them. She brings up the idea that if parents influence their kids
to show respect and inclusion to everyone then the risk of bullying will be reduced. Also, Aspa
also believes that enforcing policies and rules that clearly describe how students are expected to
treat each other. This article is provides me with ways that I would be able to change bullying in
schools with applying policies and reporting systems. I want to know how to change bullying
issues in a school environment which would help me concentrate in one specific area.
@TeenHelp.com. "Female Bullying and Girl Bully Facts." Bullying Statistics. N.p., 01 Feb.
2016. Web. 28 Nov. 2016. <http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/femalebullying.html>.
In this article, the writer's point out how male bullying was more common then but now
female bullying is becoming more and more prominent. After reviewing statistics on the issue,
she examines the most forms of bullying involve hazing, cyberbullying, social alienation, and
indirect bullying. She expresses that most female bullies tend to do more of indirect bullying and
cyberbullying while male bullies tend to lean more towards hazing and physical bullying. This
article provides me with information on how bullying based on gender has risen throughout the

years with females be more of potential victims of bullying than males. I want to know more of
the reasoning behind females methods of bullying and why they feel the need to do this to help
other females support one another.
Covington, Michelle. "Brutal Boys vs. Mean Girls." Just Say YES. N.p., 04 June 2014. Web. 29
Nov. 2016. <https://www.justsayyes.org/bullying/brutal-boys-vs-mean-girls/>.
In this article, Covington speaks out about the methods of bullying and how it tends to
look different between the genders. After looking over statistical infographics on bullying
differences based on gender, she goes on to speak more about overt and physical bullying to
behind the scenes, subtle types of bullying. Covington explains that male bullies are more likely
to bully another face-to-face and do it as means to show their masculinity and strength over other
males. She then goes on to say that female bullies are more likely to bully others through social
media, and often through rumors, exclusion, teasing, and insults. Essentially, she states that while
the boys form of bullying is easier to catch, we must also look out for girls form of bullying
because its harder to spot and hurts just as much or worse than the boys method of bullying.
This article can enhance my project because it tells me that boys and girls do bully differently
and helps me establish ways in how to help bullying for both genders. I want to be able to come
up with useful ways that will actually help me reduce bullying going on in middle schools.
Dombeck, Mark. "The Long Term Effects of Bullying." AAETS. American Academy of Experts
in Traumatic Stress, 2014. Web. 29 Nov. 2016. <http://www.aaets.org/article204.htm>.
In this article, Dombeck explores the sort of damages bullies do to their victims, and
discuss a few paths through which through that damage can be undone. Using his educational
background, he has a Ph. D, he realizes that bullying is part of human nature and that although it
can not be eliminated in can be suppressed. Dombeck exposes his biased towards bullying from

his personal experience to show that he is totally against it and prove that it can shape someone
as an adult, and not for the better. He points out the short-term and long-term damages it can
cause someones emotional and mental health. This article provides me with an excellent amount
of drawbacks the effect of bullying has on an individual for their future.
"What Are the Causes of Bullying." NoBullying.com. NOBULLYING.COM, 13 Oct. 2016.
Web. 29 Nov. 2016. <https://nobullying.com/what-are-the-causes-of-bullying/>.
In this article, the writer brings up reasoning to the question of what causes students to
bully others. After coming up with multiple factors the writer narrows it down to the eight most
found reasons as to what causes someone to become a bully, examining each reasoning more indepth. They find that bullies tend to attack victims because of their own emotional turmoil they
have going on in their lives, ranging from a lack of empathy to a ton uncertainty they have on
who they are as a person. Ultimately, they point out that one of the main reasons as to why a
person becomes a bully is because of their inability to regulate their emotions and the other big
cause being the family influence they have. This article can help with my project because it gives
me background on who and what a bully is and how to handle talking to one. It sparks me to also
find out more on how we are able to help a bully.
