and impact
ramming

A.Hak Drillcon is a specialist in the field of trenchless

techniques and offers a wide variety of different drilling
methods, including impact ramming and the auger drilling
technique.

VARIED TRENCHLESS TECHNIQUES

In case of auger drilling, pipe

sections are driven into the
soil by means of hydraulic
jack screws (augers). Impact
ramming, on the other hand,
is a pneumatic method, which
utilises an underground
compressed air rocket, which
pushes the pipe.

IMPACT RAMMING

The method of impact ramming utilises

an underground compressed air rocket,
a torpedo-shaped steel cylinder, which
accommodates a pneumatically movable
piston. Driven by the compressed air, the
piston impacts against an anvil at the inner
front side of the cylinder. This generates
a pushing force, which causes the rocket
to move into the soil like a horizontal pile
hammer. Due to the friction between the
soil and the cylinder, the rocket remains in
place during the backward movement of the
piston. The method is mainly implemented
for smaller road crossings.
BEFORE OR BEHIND THE PIPE

When implementing impact ramming, the

rocket can push the pipe. This method
allows to process diameters ranging from
80 to 1,500 mm. A.Hak Drillcon has several
modern drilling vehicles with compressed

air rockets, compressor, welding equipment
and an automatic loading crane. These are
spread throughout the Netherlands so as to
ensure that our drillings can be implemented
in a quick and efficient way.

PILOT DIRECTED DRILLING

AUGER DRILLING TECHNIQUE

VERSATILE QUALITY

When implementing the auger drilling

technique, pipe sections are lowered in a
jacking pit, from where they are driven into
the soil by means of hydraulic jack screws.
The front of the first pipe section contains a
cutting head, which is immediately followed
by the auger or the earth drill. This auger is
driven by an engine in the jacking pit. Due
to the absence of a drilling shield, the soil
is pressed directly into the open pipe, from
which it will be removed.

A.Hak Drillcon offers full service: from the

design phase to the implementation of the
final drilling. We work closely with our engineering and implementation departments so
as to allow for direct and clear communication. Supporting equipment such as jeeps,
reel trucks, lorries and pipe roller systems, is
managed internally. We also have a workshop, warehouse and yard with spare parts
management.

Before driving the pipe sections into the soil,

we implement a pilot drilling with an optical
measurement system. This ensures highly
accurate drillings.
