From the Pastor

We sing 'Joy to the World' after Christmas because of the Joy we

feel that Jesus came as the Son of God, the Savior of us all. Today
we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent as we light the rose
colored candle along with two purple ones; the change in color
provides us with encouragement to continue our spiritual
preparationespecially prayer and fastingfor Christmas.

HOLIDAY MASS MINISTRIES

A painting of the Holy Family blessed by the Pope will be

visiting our parish on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Father will
incorporate a brief presentation into the 6:30pm mass.

That is where our faith comes in; faith in the One we celebrate. It
does not matter that we are experiencing the best day in our lives or
the worst day, we can still have faith that God is with us. That is who
Jesus is, God with us. He is the physical
presence that allows us to touch and receive
the Savior. On Christmas day, and
throughout this season there will be many
'get togethers' of family and friends. It will
be Christmas if our lives express that Jesus
lives among us.

Altar Ministers for Next Weekend

Contributions

We will have a special holiday party for our elementary

students on Wed., Dec. 14 from after school until 5 pm.
Permission forms will be sent home from PSR last week so that
catechists may walk the students over from RVH Elementary
after early dismissal. We will play games, make holiday crafts,
watch a Christmas movie and eat snacks. All are invited for
Santas appearance at 4:30 pm!

This third sunday is known as Gaudete Sunday, the word taken

from the Latin entrance antiphon with means rejoice. So, we rejoice
on this Sunday that we are closer to celebrating the birth of the One
who would change our world for good. We do celebrate the joys in
life such as birth, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, or even
when we just feel the joy of life. We all have joys in life, and we have
those times when the joys seem far away. With our faith in the One
we celebrate at Christmas, we know that the joys are always with us
even though sometimes we do not recognize them.

CHRISTMAS CALL TO SHARING

We cant fully practice our Catholic faith without the life and
ministry of priests. You will soon receive an invitation to
consider a gift to the Christmas Call to Sharing - a gift of
gratitude to support retired priests and the education of
seminarians. God has blessed us this year with 53 men in the
seminary and continues to bless us with so many retired priests
who serve the Church in many ways. I would ask that you be
