connections varies widely across U.S. Pew Research Center. Retrieved
from http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/09/19/censuscomputer-ownership-internet-connection-varies-widely-across-u-s/
Rainie Lee illustrates how connected the united states is a whole and
compared to other countries in then world we are right at the top
percentile of being connected to at least broadband internet. Even
though we are at the top of being connected there are still places in
the U.S. that are below the average of the rest of the United States.
(Summary 63)
Rainie Lee offers some insight on how the whole United States is not
connected equally as we all think it is and sheds some light on some of
the areas of the U.S. that are not so connected. Lee explains why some
areas are not as connected as others and explains this very well.
(Evaluation 54)
Information in this article will help explain that so many people in the
United States do not have access to the Internet, most people dont
understand how many people dont have what to some is a basic
necessity and this article will help clear all that up. (Reflection 48)

Annie Paul Explains why some people call schools Internet filters
Laughably Lame. Paul explains that once a student is given a tablet,
IPad, laptop etc. from the school they are instantly trying to find away
around the filter and most of the time they are successful in doing so.
Many complain that the filters block their creative thinking and slow
there learning. (Summary 62)
Paul explains that even though most student will find a way to get
around the filter of the internet all that time spent on trying to get
around it is lost and the only ones it is hurting is the students
(Evaluation 43)
In this article it explains how the students will waist time just to get
around the filter put there by the school and most of the times are
successful so why waist the time of the students if they are going to
get around the software anyways (Reflection 47)

Kids. The Atlantic. Retrieved from
http://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2016/04/internetfiltering-hurts-kids/479907/
Melinda, D. Anderson explains how the government has gone through
great lengths to get at least broadband Internet to rural school
districts. As soon as they get the internet at schools a web filter goes
up as required by the CIPA Law passed in 2000 but most schools are
going way beyond the required law and filtering the internet way to
much. (Summary 62)
Andersons article will be very useful as she explains what is required in
most states on what they have to block, and just how the school
districts are going beyond what is required by the government. This
much filtration is hurting the kids. (Evaluation 43)

This article shows how hard the government worked to get computers
to all these rural places, and for what? The schools are over filtering
making them difficult for students to use and get useful information
out of them for schoolwork. The computers that were brought to help
the students are not actually helping. (Reflection 53)

Christ Davies explains how many students with computer at home
benefit greatly from them because in todays education home research
is necessary. He explains not all students have access to a computer
some only have access to a smart phone. Davis states that students
who dont have access to a computer suffer because Internet is a big
part of education now. (Summary 61)
Daviess article will help shine light on that not all students have a
reliable internet source in there home so they will need one at school
that will not be so restrictive and let learn research, and learn with
ease and no restrictive web filters to get around (Evaluation 43)
This article will help me explain why some students will need
computers at school to research and study more then others and just
why they need that research to be unfiltered. If they dont have
computer access at home and the schools Internet it too restrictive
there is going to be so much information that student will never see.

Education. First Amendment Center. Retrieved From
http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/excess-web-filtering-in-schoolshurts-education
Ken, Paulson explains his disapproval of the schools to broad web filter.
Paulson explains that I some schools the First Amendment Center is
Blocked due to the real cases it has on its website, he explains that the
website is blocked because it has key words that are red flags to the
web filter. When in reality it is just stating facts about real cases. This is
why he thinks the web filters are too broad. (Summary 76)

Paulsons article gives an example on how the schools web filters can
be way to broad and restrictive, and just how it will block out good
information just because of one key word in an article. (Evaluation 35)
This article will be evidence that schools need to change the way go
about blocking websites, this is just one example of a website being
blocked because it has a red flag key word. This will be some
supporting evidence to help back up my argument (Reflection 45)

she explains how every day she gets frustrated to find another
creditable site blocked from the school computers and wants to put a
stop to it. (Summary 46)
Schulten is affected by the to restrictive web searches first hand, as a
school Liberian she finds her self getting to restricted pages all the
time. Schulten explains some ideas she has to getting rid of the too
restrictive web filters. (Evaluation 44)
Schulten explained why she thinks the web is too restrictive and how it
harms the students in many different ways and I find her very
creditable. She is having this happen first hand and makes her
creditable. (Reflection 40)

Filtered at High School Retrieved. Daily American. From
http://articles.dailyamerican.com/2011-1102/entertainment/30353182_1_internet-privileges-schools-blockwebsites
Mrs. Pyle asked her students how strong should the internet be
filtered at high school? most all of her students agreed that some
Filtration is necessary to keep inappropriate things off the computers.
Most of her students had experienced a completely fine website
became blocked at school for no real reason, the students just want a
less restrictive filter to not get in there way of learning. (Summary 66)

Most of the students in this one class have experienced this too
restrictive web filter as one said Filtering the Internet in schools seems
to more of a hassle to students then necessary a lot of students
believe that the school is making it harder for them to succeed in
school. (Evaluation 51)
With the web filter affecting this many kids in one class it should help
people understand how many people are really effected by this,
because this is just one class in one school in one state there are
plenty more school having this problem out there guarantied.

Schools. Computerworld. Retrieved From
http://www.computerworld.com/article/2468073/endpoint-security/howinternet-censorship-harms-schools.html
Mitch Wagner explains that school web filters should not be decided by
a machine looking for key words in websites to block it. It should be
blocked by humans that have looked at the website themselves. If then
they find it to be inappropriate for school then block it but leaving it to
a key word would have to many good websites blocked for no real
reason. (Summary 67)
Wagner is all for changing up how school web filters are run, to many
good sites and so much information goes unused because a student
will never get to see it because of one word and that is not acceptable
for Wagner.
(Evaluation 40)
As Wagner explains how most web filter are run by a machine looking
for key words this article will help me show just how and why some
article that are perfectly fine for school are blocked and why this needs
to be changed. (Reflection 43)
