Grade: First Grade


History SOL 1.6 The student will describe how the location of his/her community, climate, and
physical surroundings affect the way people live, including their food, clothing, shelter,
transportation, and recreation.
WIDA Standards 2007- Social Studies
English Language Proficiency Standard 5: English language learners communicate information,
ideas, and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of Social Studies
WIDA Level: Level 3

Responsive Listening Assessment


Purpose: This test will show a students knowledge of different places and locations through
specific vocabulary to help measure their abilities to meet the language objectives listed below.
Objectives:
Students will be able to interpret word order patterns through question and answer
relationships.
Student will answer with the corresponding answer to different wh- questions.
Directions: Listening to the following sentences and choose the best correct answer.
Example:
Test-takers hear: Where is the meeting?
Test-takers read: A. It is at 10:00pm.
B. It is about cleaning up the park.
C. The meeting is at Jennys house.
D. The meeting will end at 6pm.

Assessment:
1. Test-takers hear: Where is the Post Office?
Test-takers read: A. On Main Street.
B. Until 5 oclock.
C. The mailman works there.

D. It closes at 2 oclock.
2. Test-takers hear: What time did the teacher leave school?
Test-takers read: A. In about an hour.
B. About $20.
C. At about 4:00pm.
D. She went home.
3. Test takers hear: How old is Sarah?
Test-takers read: A. My friend.
B.10 years old.
C. At the park.
D. very good.
4. Test-takers hear: How many people live in your community?
Test-takers read: A. No, they do not.
B. At 5:00.
D. About $10.
D. About 1,000 people.

5. Test-takers hear: What color are the houses in neighborhood?


Test-takers read: A. Brown
