Today the students will be able to:
1-Refute anothers argument
2-Introduce their own argument after the refutation
3-Do both of the previous objectives in a collected manner
How will you link the new materials to prior learning?
It will regard their prior knowledge of argumentative writing

Process of Learning

What will students do?


They will watch my powerpoint and will then practice with a
partner. Some will go in front of the class. And then lastly an
exit slip.
How long will be spent on each part (timing)?
Powerpoint/practice: 15 min
In front of class: 5 min
Will all students be doing the same thing?
Mostly but only those who choose to go in front of the class will
do so.

I will tell them the importance of speaking well and how it can
change the outcome of a debate. I will over exaggerate (or perhaps not at least exaggerate it past what I believe to be true)
the importance of speaking well with examples of winning arguments and becoming president or other big examples such as
that one.

Explain it and then practice. Exit slip administered at the end to
ensure understanding.

Wrap-up and exit slip. If at break I see they didnt totally get it
then I will refresh it when they come back and make note of the
kids who need extra help. Ill inform Ms.Guerin of who that is.
