General Objectives
After two to three hours of presenting a Case Study on Ruptured
Appendicitis With Generalized Peritonitis the BSN 4 NA assigned at
Emergency Room at Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital, will be able to
enhance their field of knowledge on the proper management for a client with
the said condition and what nursing interventions should be done to respond
to his/her needs. This case study and case presentation aims to develop each
4th year level nursing students knowledge and skills, especially in the clinical
area, in efficiently applying care to the patients; for the group to also express
what they learned at school to the clinical setting, and to be able to use their
critical thinking when handling patients with such diagnosis. The group had
worked together for the success and completion of this case study for them to
learn from the diagnosis of the patient and understand better the case
presented. The group aims to deliver the presentation in order to effectively
impart valuable knowledge and improve and accept criticisms and change.
This will also help them yield health education suitable for the condition of the
client and his/her family for home care.
In sum, this study aims to discuss the patients general condition;
nursing diagnosis; medical, surgical and nursing interventions; health
teachings to impart; and the knowledge acquired from the case. To thoroughly
and orderly present all of these after two to three hours of case presentation
in a logical and systematic manner to the best utilization of knowledge, skills
and attitude of the group.

III. Scope and Limitations

This study is a case of Patent X who had a chief complaint of Abdominal
pain and was diagnosed with Ruptured Appendicitis With Generalized
Peritonitis. The members of the group were given the chance to see hm
personally and assessed him objectively. There were also other members who
rendered some nursing interventions to the patient.
The information, which is presented in this paper, was gathered by the
Fourth (4th) Year, Xavier University Student Nurses of Block A (SY 2016-2017)
from the following sources: direct Nurse-Patient Interview with the use of an
Assessment Tool in Emergency Room department, patients Medical Chart,
patients watcher or significant other, and various qualified books and trusted
online data. The supporting data that help illustrate and further explain the
disease conditions were mostly from articles on the internet and also from
books such as Brunner and Suddarths Textbook of Medical and Surgical
Nursing.
The parts and components of this paper, which includes the definition
of the disease, possible underlying causes, anatomy and physiology,
pathophysiology, medical and nursing management, drug study, discharge
plan, prognosis, recommendations, and conclusion, will be presented and
shown through this gathered information. The data collated will be able to
guide and aid the group in fully understanding the patients condition and help
them to come up with better nursing care plan in order to respond to the
patients needs.
The members of the group were given the chance to assess the patient
objectively in emergency room department. This study is only bounded within
the limits of the information gathered by the student nurses assigned through
the assessment and the answers given mostly by the patients significant
others. The studys assessment was conducted in Maria Reyna Xavier
University Hospital Incorporated, Cagayan de Oro City on the day of the
actual duty in emergency room. The patient was assessed on November
