Sleepover Pillowcase Pattern!

MATERIALS:
1 yard of print number 1 (45” wide fabric)
1 yard of print number 2
1 package Ric Rac or ribbon *optional*
Elmer’s glue stick/ straight pins *optional*
Iron

*Note* This will make 2 pillowcases; one to keep and one to give away!

FINISHED DIMENSIONS:
20 X 30
Fits a standard size pillow

CUT FABRICS
From print number 1, cut:
1 – 40 x 24“rectangle
1 – 40 x 12” rectangle

From print number 2, cut:


1 – 40 x 24“rectangle
1 – 40 x 12” rectangle

*Note* Most fabrics will be folded in half. Following cutting guide below.
Dotted lines are cutting lines.

Selvages (raw edges)

Folded edge 36”


SEWING DIRECTIONS
1) Fold fabric number 1 with right sides together, to make a 20 x 24”
rectangle.
2) Using ½ seams, sewing along one long side and one short end.
Clip corners.
3) Press seams open as best you can.
4) Turn pillowcase right side out.
5) Fold the band of print number 2 in half with right sides together to
make a rectangle measuring 20 x 12”.
6) Sew the short ends together.
7) Press seam open.
8) Fold the band in half (wrong sides together).
9) Matching raw edges, slide pillowcase and over pillowcase body; pin
together. Sew through all layers.
10) Turn band outward and press
entire pillowcase.
11) Topstitch approximately ¼
“from edge of band on the pillowcase body. If you want to add Ric
Rac or ribbon, you will need to place on the pillowcase and secure
with straight pins or a glue stick before sewing.
12) Repeat steps 1-11 to complete
second pillowcase!
