I.

Summary
Mr. Mallari sets up a business selling radios in 1979, it grew out better and by demand, he
also started selling some various electronic parts. 11 years later, he constructed a twostorey building that served as his store and home as well. He expanded his business and
operated in other big towns, additionally he had salesladies and technicians to operate the
store as he incorporated repair services in his business. After some time, he met his
former classmate Mr. Chan in a class reunion who tells him achievements in establishing
his own factory, but starting as a subcontractor. Because of this, Mr. Mallari also wants to
do it, but he is getting old and his oldest son is going to college, so he sees this as a
perfect opportunity to start.

II.

Statement of the Problem

His concern now is about identifying the right college courses for his three sons, which
he must carefully consider in order to help him establish an own assembly plant.

III.

Alternative Courses of Action

Mr. Mallari could pick engineering courses for his sons, as the assembly plant
deals with electronics, electronics and communications engineering would be the

best option.
He could also pick business related course in order for his sons to have an

effective management in the assembly plant.

He could divide roles and combine engineering course as well as business related
course in order to run the assembly plant well by having his sons a knowledge to
technical and business managing skills.

IV.

Justification
The best solution for Mr. Mallari is he should combine business related course and
engineering course for his sons. As for his oldest son, since he is considering sending his
son to an engineering school but still picking about what engineering course, Electronics

and Communications Engineering (ECE) would be the best pick for his son. Since they
are running a business that consists of electronic parts and offers services in repairing
electronics. It is the most effective engineering course for his son and would also help for
knowing all technical aspects considering that they are opening an assembly plant which
requires plenty of knowledge in electronics. As for his other son, it would be efficient if
his son will take a business management course, preferably majoring in finance, because
this would really help in effectively managing the flow of cash and income of their
business which will be the foundation or the capital for the construction of the assembly
plant. For the youngest son, it would be great if he will also take a business management
course but majoring in operations management or human resources, it can be not
necessary but it will even strengthen the foundation of assembly plant, for operations
management, it would maximize the income for them and for the human resources, it
would minimize income loss and make the operations run smoothly also by carefully
selecting workers or employees. This three courses for Mr. Mallaris sons would be the
key for him to establish the assembly plant effectively and efficiently.
