Sehool students in their commerce and science streams
A. INTRODUCTION
No nation whether big or small can afford to overlook the
importance of reasoning in this age of competition. Who survive this
competition largely depends upon its citizens with high reasoning ability.
The reasoning ability affects enormously not only scientific and
technological progress, but society in general.
It is an undeniable fact that no two members of the same species are
alike in all aspect. Reasoning is the most complex form of adjustment of
which human beings are capable. Researchers generally agree that
education can do a great in promoting reasoning ability through
environment manipulation. Most psychological researcher generally agree
that all persons have some reasoning potential, though there are wide
difference in degree. Good education, proper care and provision of
opportunities for developing and expressing reasoning ability can inspire
and stimulate the reasoning ability among students.
a1(B) VARIABLES UNDER STUDY:-
VARIABLES UNDER STUD *:-
Concept of the variable under study are given as:
a) _ Reasoning Ability:-
Reasoning ability is the most complex form of adjustment of which
human beings are capable. It is the highest form of productive thinking,
that needs a well organized brain. Reasoning is combining past experiences
in order to solve a problem, which cannot be solved by mere reproduction
of earlier solution. Reasoning is step wise thinking with a purpose of goal
in mind. Reasoning is much like train and error behavior instead of motor
exploration it is mental exploration. Reasoning is therefore a highly
purposeful, controlled, selective thinking process, the material of which is
predominately factual reproduction of past experiences.¥
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
‘ollowing are the objective of the present investigation:

To find out the significant differences between commerce boys and
commerce girls on reasoning ability.
To find out the significant differences between science boys and
science girls when reasoning ability is taken as independent
variables.
