Accessing Valid Resources

One must be very cautious while researching information on the World Wide Web
(www). Any individual has the availability to create their own website for the public to view.
When creating a website, there are no rules or laws stating that all of the information must be
credible. That is why it is important to scope out the site to make sure it is reliable. There are a
couple of major areas to look for while trying to find a credible source. It is important to look for
a date of publication, to make sure the information is current. It is also important to locate the
author and their credentials. Another important way a person can tell if they are accessing valid
resources is if they look at the URL (.edu, .gov, .net, .mil, etc.).
