Free pattern - Raving Rabbid

Photo: http://www.notcot.com/
Rayman Raving Rabbids is a video game and a TV show featuring these
goofy looking creatures. Here is a pattern for a crocheted version I made.
Although I definitely want to make a miniature version in the future, this
pattern is for a Rabbid big enough for cuddling. Have fun! And don't forget
to share your photos onFacebook.

Size
About 36 cm (14") including ears, with 3,50 mm (US size 4/E) crochet hook.

Materials & Tools

- Yarn. I used aran weight cotton and acrylic blend, 92m = 50g / 10 ply / 8
wpi. You will need about 80g or 150m of yarn.
- Crochet hook 3,5mm (US size 4/E) or according to the yarn.
- Stuffing - polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding etc.
- Safety toy eyes, 12 - 15 mm.
- Sheet felt and matching thread.
- Yarn needle, sewing needle, scissors, stitch marker.

Abbreviations
-

mr, n = start the piece with an adjustable loop, n sc in to the loop.

ch = chain stitch
sc = single crochet stitch
sc n = make n single crochet stitches (or ch, sl st etc.), one in each stitch
inc = increase make two single crochet stitches in to the same stitch
dec = invisible decrease crochet two single crochet stitches together
(sc 2, inc) x n = repeat the pattern between parentheses n times
(24) = number of stitches in a round after finishing said round

Notes

- Do not join at the end of each round, work in a continuous spiral.

- Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of
a round. Move the marker up after completing each round.
- All stitches are worked into both loops unless stated otherwise in the
pattern.

chain. Draw the yarn through.

3. Insert the needle through the last

stitch from the bottom and between
the two loops.

Legs
Make two legs, leave
the working yarn
attached
to the second leg.

between the two legs and sew it on,
making two stitches on either side of it.

Body
You should be left
with 34 stitches 16

either end of the
piece
between the legs.
Continue crocheting
in spiral.

Make the eye patches and cut two circles out
of felt. Make a small hole in the center. Push the
back bar of the safety eye through the hole and
attach the eyes to the body between rows 37
and
38, leaving 12 stitches (count 11 holes)
between
them. Sew the eye patches to the body through

the center tightly closed (TUTORIAL 1).
Use this yarn tail to sew the ears to the head.

1. Cut two oval pieces out of felt.

Embroider the mouth.

NB! Insert the safety
eye in to the loop
and
draw the loop tightly
closed around it.
Fasten off cleanly
(tutorial 3) and
weave in
the yarn tail on the
wrong side.
Tip! To make the eyes
more bulging, add
another row of single
crochet stitches.
Attach the eye to the
eye patch (ball) not
to the head. Stuff and
sew it to the head.

2. Sew the felt pieces to the body

with matching thread.

Thumbs
1: mr, 4 = 4
2-3: sc in each stitch = 4
Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Cut the yarn leaving a long yarn tail for sewing
and fasten off. Sew the arms to the body.

Ears
1: mr, 6 = 6
2: inc x 6 = 12
3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18
4: (inc, sc 2) x 6 = 24
5-7: sc in each stitch = 24

18-19: sc in each stitch = 16
20: (dec, sc 6) x 2 = 14
21-22: sc in each stitch = 14
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail. Do not stuff
the ears.
Push the ears flat. Cut out pieces of felt
following the shape of the ears and sew them
on with mathing thread.
Use the long yarn tail left on the head to sew
the ears to the head.

Finish sewing and fasten all yarn tails securely (tutorial). Squeeze and
squash your toy Rabbid to redistribute the stuffing and coax it back in to a
perfect shape. Done!
