PUNJAB RESIDENCY PROGRAM (PRP), 2016


Salient features and criteria of residents induction for August, 2016 Intake.

Submission of Application:
Each candidate can apply in the respective Residency Program (PRP) by submitting
online applications at the official website of Punjab Residency Program (PRP) vide a
single application for all institutions
Pre-requisite
For Level-I FCPS Program:
a) Passed FCPS Part-I Examination valid in accordance with CPSP
Regulations
b) No previous admission / induction in any Residency Program at any
institution
c) The candidate has permanent or provisional registration with Pakistan
Medical and Dental Council
For Level-III FCPS Program:
Have completed two years training in General Medicine and General Surgery till 30
June, 2016 from a recognized public sector institute in Punjab.
Order of Merit
The following order of preferences shall be observed for shortlisting candidates for PG
Induction:
a) Domicile
i. Applicants having Punjab Domicile

ii. Applicants from other Provinces / Areas


iii. Foreign applicants provided they meet the eligibility
requirements and maintain formalities of legal stay at their
own level, and provide an NOC from PMDC/Federal
Government, as applicable
The domicile for the purpose shall mean domicile availed at the time of
admission in Medical / Dental Institution. A certificate in this regard issued
from the Principal of concerned medical institute shall be submitted along
with the application.
b) The academic and experience marks
c) Age- If two or more candidates in same category secure equal marks,
preference will be given to the candidate whose age is more than the
other candidate(s).

* The Conversion Formula for break-up of 15 marks shall be as under:


a. Aggregate marks of all Professional Examinations
= X
b. Total maximum marks of all Professional

* The cut-off date for calculating the service experience is 30th June, 2016.

Weightage of FCPS-I Examination Marks


The candidates with FCPS Part-I will not undergo any additional Entrance Test, and
they will be awarded 60% marks each out of 35. i.e. 21 out of 35 marks for all
candidates.
Process for Induction:
1. The Joint Admission Commission (JAC) will supervise the entire process of induction
of PG Trainees.
2. The auto generated preliminary merit lists of selected candidates, after scrutiny by
the JAC will be forwarded to the respective Principals/ Heads of the Institutions.
3. The preliminary merit list for each specialty / program containing details of all the
applicants for a specific institute will be displayed physically and online by the
Principal/Head of the respective institute and objections shall be called within 02
days.
4. The Principal of the Institute shall settle the objections filed against the preliminary
merit list within 02 days of submissions of objections.
5. The Principal of the respective institution, in light of the decisions on objections will
display the final merit list for each specialty through the online system at the official
website of the Residency Program, institution website and notice board.
6. The candidate shall be selected for a specialty at the institute as per preference /
choice given in the application form after falling within the ambit of merit of that
institution.
7. The Principal/ head of institution will issue appointment letter of selected candidates
of that institute after verifying / scrutinizing the original documents as per previously
submitted online form.
8. The Principal will issue paid orders in respect of enrolled PG Trainees depending
upon the seniority cum merit for respective specialty.
9. The PG Trainees completing initial 02 years training program at public sector
institution of this department and intending to join sub specialty (level-III) program
will also submit application through online official website of Punjab Residency
Program.
10. Such PG Trainees shall be accommodated in the same hospital or nearby hospitals
subject to availability of slots in the respective sub specialty on priority basis.
11. The Post Graduate Induction Policy 2015 after incorporating amendments as agreed
with relevant stakeholders is renamed as Punjab Residency Program 2016 and is
enforced immediately w.e.f July-August 2016 PG Induction and onwards.
Available Postgraduate Training Slots:
A total of 804 slots will be available for Aug 2016 session of Punjab Residency
Program. This includes 30 seats for Dentistry and 118 seats for University Programs
and remaining seats are reserved for FCPS Part-II Residency at level-I and level-III
induction. This number includes paid as well as honorary slots. However, the selection
over paid slots will be made at the institution level by the concerned Principal subject to

availability of paid slots in the respective specialty on the basis of seniority-cum merit.
The honorary residency is subject to confirmation by the respective degree awarding
institution.
Last Date for submission of applications
Last date for submission of online applications for FCPS Program is 18th July, 2016 by
12:00 Midnight.
