POLICE are hunting for a man who tried to get a 16-year-old girl into his car.
The alleged incident took place at the end of May when the girl was approached by a

Sutton, where it is alleged that the men inside stared suspiciously at children on their
way to Meadow Primary School.

to be completed in 12 months. She is required to fully repay the overpaid benefits.

Council enforcers take to the streets

The Council’s new
Community Enforcement
Team aims to tackle the
issues that matter in
communities across West
Cheshire.
Recently front line staff
from several services across
the Council came together
as one multi-skilled team in
a totally new way of working.
The new team includes
staff from Community
Safety, Streetscene and
Parking.
Community and
Environment Executive
Member, Councillor Lynn Community Enforcement Officer Sharon shows
Riley said: “I’m sure the Councillor Lynn Riley examples of graffiti in
team will go from strength Westminster, Ellesmere Port.
to strength, developing their
new skills even further. The team will focus initially on dog fouling and litter but we have
plans to extend their activities and responsibilities.”
‘On the beat’ in Ellesmere Port, Community Enforcement Officer, Sharon, was able to show
Councillor Riley examples of littering including a dumped fridge and bin bags of rubbish, as
well as graffiti.
As well as being a highly visible and approachable face of the Council on the streets the
team will also be working in partnership with other agencies such as Cheshire Police,
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Environment Agency and the Probation Service. If
the team itself is not able to take action they will make sure that the appropriate agencies
are informed.
Anyone wanting to report litter, dog fouling or graffiti problems in their area will be able to
use the team’s new Community Enforcement pages.
The website’s Report It section allows anyone out and about with a mobile phone to take a
photo of a problem area and send it in to the team.

Stanlow provides jobs for around 1000 Shell people and a large number of contrac-
tors on site on a regular basis. Their salaries provide a boost for the local economies
of the north west and help create further employment.

With the cost of living going up the option to move 13 Chester Road, Whitby, Ellesmere Port

in with your partner is increasingly tempting for many

Devine & Co are regulated by the Solicitors’ Regulation Autho

people in West Cheshire.

Waking up together every day, enjoying cosy nights in,
decorating and DIY, and saving money as two live as
cheaply as one - there are many reasons why setting up
home with your partner seems like a great idea.
DON’T LEAVE IT TO THE LAST MINUTE... CONT
Moving in together is a thrilling and romantic time, full of
optimism about your shared future. It’s easy to understand
why few people stop and think about their legal position.
Many people living with a partner do not realise that, even
in this day and age, unmarried couples are not protected
by law in the same way that married couples are.
For example, did you know that if you move in with your partner and the house is only in their
name you have no rights to the proceeds from the sale of the house - or to inherit the house if
they die?
Every year many people discover that even though they’ve handed their partner money each
month towards the mortgage and the bills, they have no claim on the property because it’s only
in their partner’s name. Their relationship ends or their partner dies and they are left homeless
and out of pocket.
If you are thinking about - or already have - moved in with your partner, it’s well worth taking
legal advice to find out what rights you have, where you and your partner stand with the law in
all situations, and what you can do to make your position more secure.
You will have a chance to discuss with your solicitor the history of your relationship, and the
details of your assets and those of your partner.
Your solicitor will explain your rights. They will highlight the circumstances where you or your
share of the home could be at risk and will tell you what action is to consider taking to avoid this.
Of course, a solicitor can only act for one partner at a time. They are there to help you find the
best way of safeguarding your interests and your future.
This is especially important if you have children.
Many parents don’t realise that if they are not married only the mother has automatic parental
responsibility for the child. A solicitor can help you make an agreement to share parental
responsibility with your partner.
The law is currently changing so that if you jointly register the birth, the father has parental
responsibility as well. You can check with your solicitor to find out whether this applies to you.
Your solicitor can also explain what it means for you and your partner if one or both of you
has children from a previous relationship, as the law does not automatically give parental
responsibility to cohabiting partners.

Q. Help! I have very puffy skin below my eyes. What can I do to

reduce the puffiness?
A. This question is asked so frequently that I have decided to give an
extended answer to your question.
The solution to puffy eyes will depend very much on the cause of the
puffiness. If you have always had puffy eyes, this may indicate that you
are genetically predisposed to having fatty deposits in this area; or, the
puffiness could be a result of ageing when the fat pads beneath the skin
start to shift altering the eye contour. In both of these instances there is
really is no cure other than with surgery.
However, if your eyes aren’t usually puffy and you awake to find your
under eye area is swollen, this type of puffiness is related
to inflammation. Firstly, you need to apply something to
reduce the swelling. Cold compresses are a good, quick and
inexpensive solution because cold causes swollen skin to
contract. Soak cotton wool pads or a piece of clean cloth
in cold (not icy cold) water, or apply a gel-filled eye mask
from the refrigerator.
Cold cucumber slices are also helpful, but they work
because they are cool, not because they have any magical
ingredient. You can also apply used, cooled tea bags, Angela Bartlett is a beauty and
