ThedhikrofQur'anthatwehaveheardspeaksofthemuminandthekafir,oftwowaysofunderstanding
existence.Thekafirwithhisgardenandallitswealth,exultantinhisachievementandhispossessions
andhisrichesandsayingthathewillhaveitforever.Andthemuminunderstandingsomethingelseand
thenwhendisastercomes,thenwheneverythingislaidinruinsthemeaningandthewisdomofthe
muminemerges.Themuminhassaid,
"Whydidyounotsay,'Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillah.Masha'allah.Laquwwatailla
billah"?
ThiswasonthesealofShaykhMuhammadibnalHabib,rahimahu'llah.Why?BecauseastheQutbof
histime,thiswasthemaqamofthehighestknowledge,beyondwhichthereisnoknowledgeinthis
world.
"Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillah."
ThisisthewillofAllah,andthereisnopowerexceptformAllah.ThiswordquwwainArabichasno
othermeaning.Ithasnorootbutitself.Quwwaisonlyquwwa.Itdoesnotmeananything.Itdoesnotgo
anywhere.ItdoesnotchangeinArabic.Quwwaisabsolutebecausequwwais
whatbelongstothesecretofAllahsubhanahuwata'ala.TheProphet,peaceandblessingsbeuponhim,
becausehewasRahmatal'Alamin,saidtohisSahaba:
"IwillgiveyouatreasureofthetreasuresoftheGardenifyousay,'Lahawlawalaquwwata
illabillahi'l'Aliyyi'lAdhim.'"
NowthiswasagiftofRasulullah,peaceandblessingbeuponhim,tobesteptotheknowledgeofthe
ayatbecauseheadded,
"Lahawlawalaquwwata."
IfweseethathawlinArabicisnotjuststrength,buttherootofhawlischange,whichistahwil.La
hawlawalaquwwata.AllahistheOnewhomakeschangesothereisnochangebutofform.Sidi'Alial
Jamal,rahimahu'llah,saidthatthedu'a'ofthe'arifin,thegnostics,was:
"Allah,keepmeinchange!"
LetmealwaysbechangingbecausethisistheSabilofAllah,thetahwil,thechange.Inotherwords,in
thethingseverythingischanging.Inthebeginningthegardenwasrichandprovidingwealth,andthe
manthoughtitwasfromhim.Itmeansthatitisfromthemashi'ahofAllahsubhanahuwata'ala'l
'Aliyyi'lAdhim.Nowthismeansthatyoucannotchangeyourpositionaboutyourplaceinexistence.The
muminunandthe'arifunareinthedegreesofunderstanding.

"Lahawlawalaquwwataillabillahi'l'Aliyyi'lAdhim,"
Thegreat,
"Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillah."
Itisliketheyhavesurrenderedanyideathattheyhaveanyactionthatisotherthanwhatistheactionof
Allah,withoutshirk,becauseAllahistheActor.AllahisOneinHisacts,inHisattributes,andinHis
essence.EverythinggoesbacktoHim.
Thedifferencebetweenthekafirandthemuminwasnotthedifferenceofthegardensitwasthe
differenceoftheirknowledge,oftheirunderstanding.WhenyouunderstandthatAllahistheMover,
AllahistheDoer,thenyoucandotwothings.Youcanbecomemad,majnun,becauseitisterrible.Or
youcantakethispaththatisSiratalMustaqim.Thispathisthatyouremember,andwhenyouforget,
youremember:
"Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillahi'l'Aliyyi'lAdhim."
SayyidunaMuhammad,mayAllahblesshimandgranthimpeace,saidthatofdhikrof
"Lahawlawalaquwwataillabillahi'l'Aliyyi'lAdhim."
wouldpurifyyouofpower,itwouldcureyouofpower.Inotherwords,theideathatyouhavegotpower
istobesick.Itisasickness.Itisnotinyourhand.WhenyouknowitisinHishands,whenyouknow
thematterreturnstoAllah,theaffairreturnstoAllah.
Thisisthemashi'atu'llah.Themashi'atu'llahmeansthatthenwhenyouact,youactthewayHewants.
Thisisthemeaningoftheorderto:
"LovewiththeloveofAllahandhatewiththehatredofAllah."
ThisisthemeaningoftheadabofRasulullah,mayAllahblesshimandgranthimpeace,whenSayyida
'A'isha,radiya'llahu'anha,said:
"HelovedwhatAllahlovedandhatedwhatAllahhatedintheQur'an."
Thiswashispermissiontoact.
ShaykhMuhammadibnalHabib,rahimahu'llah,sayssomethingvery,verystrangeinhisDiwan.He
says:
The'arifinarejustlikeengines,motorsmovedbydivinepower."
TheydonotmoveuntilitisonthesabilofAllahsubhanahuwata'ala.ThisisthemomentinBadrwhen
theRasulullah,mayAllahblesshimandgranthimpeace,tookthesandandthrewitattheenemy.Inthis
hewasonthesabilofAllahbecauseAllahsaidtohiminHisBook:
"Whenyouthrew,youdidnotthrow,butAllahthrew."
ThebasisofIslamisthatthereisnoshirk.Sowhatwasthis?ItwasthattheRasulullah,mayAllahbless
himandgranthimpeace,wasinfana'ofthemomentofthewaqtsohewasnotpresentinthatinstant:it
wasdirectedfromAllah.Thisisthefoundationofknowledge.ThiswasthecentreofthevictoryofBadr.

AtUhudtheyhadsoldiers,theyhadweapons,theyhadstrength,andtheylost.InBadrtheywereafew
andtheywentontheSabilofAllahandthismomentwasthetruthofitandtheyhadthevictoryofBadr.
Thisisthemomentofthe'arifin.ThisiswhyHasanalBasri,radiya'llahu'anhu,said,"Isawfortyofthe
menofBadrandtheyallworewool.(Theyallworethe'suf')."
ThemenofBadrwerethesufis,themutasawwifun,thepeoplewhoputonthewool.Sothesufiis
someonewhohasannihilatedhisknowledgeintheunderstanding,inthevisionofhisnonexistenceand
Allah'struth.Thereforetheyarethepeoplewhochangeeverything.Theyareinthischange,thistahwil
ofAllahsubhanahuwata'ala.
HawlaalsomeansinArabic"tosurround",andAllahsurroundseverything.ThereisnoformbutthatHe
encompassesit.HeencompassesitbyHisexistenceanditsnonexistence.Thereforethisisanotherkind
ofperson.Thisistheonewhocanchangetheworld.
Allahmakestimeswhenthe'arifinwithdraw.Hemakestimeswhenthepeopleofknowledgegointothe
desert,intotheSahara,anddisappear.ShaykhMoulayal'ArabiadDarqawisaidtoShaykhalHuwarito
gointothedesertandplantsweetdates.Hehidhiminthedesert.ShaykhMuhammadibnalHabib,
rahimahu'llah,hidSidiMuhammadibnalQurshiinthedesert,outoftheway.
ThereisanothertimewhenthemanofAllahrisesuptofight.Thenhemustfightfisabili'llah,notthe
jihadofthisorthatorganisation,orthisgrouporthatgroup,butwiththisbannerofAllahandtheRasul,
mayAllahblesshimandgranthimpeace.Thisisthejihadwithvictory.Allthejihadsandallthe
strugglesoftheArabsinthisagehavebeendisasterbecausetheydidnotraisethebanneroftheProphet,
salla'llahu'alayhiwasallam.ThedaytheMuslimsmovefisabili'llahwiththisknowledge:
"Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillah."
Thentheywillhavevictory.
ThiswillbethevictorybecauseitwillbewhatiswrittenallaroundthiscitybytheMurabitun:
"Laghalibailla'allah."
ThereisnovictorexceptAllah,Thisisinyourhands.Nowyoumustdoit.Butthisjihadisnotfirstwith
thesword.Thejihadisfirsttocleaneverything.Therearetimesintasawwufwhenthetarbiyahofthe
Sufisis'ilmannafs,nafs,hawa,shaytan,tocleantheheart.Thepurificationofthisageisnotinterior.
Thepurificationofthisagetomakeeverythingexteriorclean.Tomakethebehaviourclean,tomakethe
streetclean,tomaketheadabclean.Toseparatetheenemyfromthefriend.Thisisthetarbiyahofthis
age.Thisisthejihadannafsofthisage.Itisthatthemarketisnotharam,thatthemoneyishalal.That
theexchangeishalal.Thatallthedunyaexchangeishalal.Howcanwemakethehadrahifweareina
dirtyplace?Everythingisclean.EverythingaboutIslamiswater.Beforesalattheremustbewudu'.
BeforeHadraarRabbaniyyatheremustbetheShari'ahofIslam,butthepeoplewhotodaysayShari'ah
ofIslamdonotwantthiscleannesstoo.
Whyisitnotclean?BecausetheyarenotdoingitwiththeknowledgeofMasha'allah.Whentheyknowit
isMasha'allah,itisnottheywhoaredoingit.Thentheywillnotsay:
"Islam!Islam!Islam!"

Thisisthetruthofthisage.Thepeoplewhosay:

victoryfisabili'llah,insha'allah.
Soyoumustunderstandforthepurificationofyourcharacteryouneedtheilmannafs,suluk.Sulukis
todayhimma.SulukwashimmainthetimeofShaykhIbnalMashish.Ithasalwaysbeenhimma.Now
sometimesitisonewayandsometimesitisanother.ShaykhMoulayal'ArabiadDarqawisaid,
"Everybodyisinmuraqaba."
Thepowerwasphysicalandwealthy,andhesaid,"No,youaremasakin."Topurifythetime.
WhenShaykhMuhammadibnalHabib,rahimahu'llah,came,thisgreatmansaid,"Muraqaba.Thebest
jallaba."
Why?Becausetheywantedtokillthisknowledge.Sohehidthefaqirinthebeautifuljallaba.Soonlythe
menofAllahsaid,"No,no,thisisnotabeautifuljallaba.Thisisarajulu'llah."
Theenemiessaid,"Wherearethefuqara'?Wherearethemasakin?"inordertokillthem.Therewereall
thesepeopleinjallabassaying,"Assalamu'alaykum."
Thisisthething.NowinthisageyouhavetotakeonthedeenofIslam.YouhavetoprotectitbyQadi
'Iyad,byImamMalik,bytheknowledgeofthefiqh.Youmustprotectyourheartbytakingon
Masha'allah,laquwwataillabillah.Thisisdhikrofthegreatandyoumustmakeityours.Notlightlyon
yourtongue,butwithweightandwithaweandwithmajestyandawarenessofthepowerofAllah.
YouseeinthelanguageofthepeopleoftasawwuftheSufimovesbetweenqabdandbast,between
contractionandexpansion.Heisbetweenfearandhope.Ifyoumovebetweenfearandhope,youwill
notbeastrategist.Youwillnotlookforstrategy.Youwillsay:
"Masha'allah.Laquwwataillabillah."
Ifyoubecomepeopleofthisknowledge,youcanchangethewholeworld.Ifyoufollowthis,youcan
makethewholeworldforyoursonsanddaughterscompletelyclear,completelyclean.Thisisthewayof
ShaykhMuhammadibnalHabib,rahimahu'llah.Thewayhasnotchanged.ShaykhalFayturi,
rahimahu'llah,said:
"Tariqaisnotwirdorwazifaorbayaorsilsila,
buttariqaisma'rifatu'llah,ma'rifatu'llah."
Ma'rifatu'llahisembeddedinthejewel.
