Should harsh realities be taught to young children?

As children we were constantly being educated, nurtured, and guided as we mature

overtime through socialisation, whether if it were to come from our parents, elders, siblings,
teachers, social media, etc. All the knowledge, ethics, and moral values that were being
imparted to us would ultimately create our very own distinct perspective, which is how we
view and apprehend everyday situations such as challenges in school (e.g. working hard to
achieve satisfactory of grades in mid-year exams). It is these scenarios that we experience
in school that portrays a picture of the reality well be facing as soon as we step out of those
walls, and as a result, the question on whether we should prepare children for their future
lives by being educated on the reality of life comes to light.
Some may believe that teaching these harsh realities to children could potentially
hinder them from reaching the best of their potential abilities. Whereby, introducing these
realities would generate anxiety, worry, and false factual assumptions in a way that would
disrupt their physical and mental growth. For instance, if children were taught to know the
causes and consequences of plagiarism, they would assume that looking into information on
the web would endanger them in a way, thus preventing them from attaining the additional
knowledge that exists to educate society. With this, children wouldnt be able to enjoy this
stage of their lives to the fullest as some may prefer to educate children in a constantly
positive manner, in which harsh realities would be taught at a later time.
Despite of the relevant statements, like a penny, there are always two sides. Even if
teaching those harsh realities may cause children to generate anxiety, how would they
handle them then not being taught such things in the past? As, To defeat the enemy, you
must know the enemy, in which teaching them how to apprehend those realities at an early
age would then in return aid and guide them in their future lives, careers, and hence mold
their values and principles in order to achieve their goals and dreams. Only then, would they
be able to make rational decisions based on rights and wrongs being familiarized as a child
(e.g. refusing to take bribes as an alternative to their problems and choose to do what is
ethical to them).
People often have misconceptions on teaching what harsh realities are to children,
how they would impact a childs development in all aspects, when what should be taught is
essentially how to deal with these harsh realities and being able to cope and decide on how
to avoid them to be able to bring the conscience within them to their everyday surroundings.
After all, success ultimately started from one choice, one choice that altogether
creates a chain through ones ideas, opinions, values, and principles that became their main
foundation towards great potency, a potential that in turn would inspire others to do the
same...
