PERSONAL PROFILE
Im proud that I was among the first students who graduated from the nuclear
engineering program at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and being
ranked 4th among my classmates in the bachelor's degree, which also reflects my excellent
profile in the course work. Currently, I'm working at Jordan Atomic Energy Commission
(JAEC) as a fluid-systems design engineer. I joined the Jordan Research and Training
Reactor (JRTR) project in 2011 to participate in the design and construction phases and get
involved in the commissioning of the facility. As the project progressed, I acquired the know
how's about the fluid-systems design of the reactor from the design team at Korea Atomic
Energy Research Institute (KAERI), South Korea. Furthermore, I participated in the
implementation of these designs on site. Recently, I got the Reactor Operator license issued
from EMRC and certified by KINS.
During my master's- and bachelor's degree studies, at KAIST/UST and JUST, respectively, I
studied courses in CFD, heat transfer, thermal hydraulics and nuclear reactor safety, etc.
Moreover, I did my research work at KAERI, where I've two published conference papers and
a master thesis in the field of numerical investigation of the heat transfer coefficient using
CFD code, the latter was published in Germany as a book. In addition, I prepared the
pressure drop calculations report for all JRTR fluid systems and now its classified at KAERIs
library. I strongly believe that having this particular technical and theoretical background
will allow me to do a successful PhD research work, where Im willing to dedicate my full time
at the graduate school conducting a series of experimental and computational studies.

RESEARCH
Research work
During my research, the effect on a shell-side convective heat transfer coefficient(h)
[W/m.k] is investigated using the CFD code FLUENT with variation in a longitudinal
pitch to diameter ratio, SL, in the range of 1.15 to 2.6 with a fixed transverse pitch to
diameter ratio. For a benchmark purpose, typical thermal-hydraulic conditions for the
Zukauskas correlation are assumed. Many sensitivity calculations for different mesh sizes
and turbulent models are performed to check the accuracy of the numerical solution. As a
result of the turbulence sensitivity study, for the staggered tube bank case, the Realizable
- turbulence model was found to be in good agreement with the results of the Zukauskas
correlation among the other investigated turbulence models. On the other hand, for the inline
tube bank case, the SST - turbulence model predicted the average heat transfer coefficient
better than the -based turbulence models.
Purpose:
In designing compact heat exchangers, smaller pitches allow a high performance compact
heat exchanger at the expense of a high pressure drop. Normally, the transverse tube pitch
is determined by a given requirement on a pressure drop limit through a heat exchanger.
The longitudinal pitch has a quite different effect on the heat transfer and pressure drop
depending on inline and staggered tube banks, respectively.
All calculations are performed as a conjugate heat transfer problem in which the metal
thickness is modeled as a solid region and the conduction equation is solved for the
temperature around tube surface.
This research was included in my Master dissertation. And being published in other papers.
