Identifying Threat, Opportunity, Weakness, and Strenght of Indonesia
1. Answer the question number one, I think Malaysia is the main competitor of
Indonesia. Why? Because the country is headed for the core state. With economic
stability, and the fact that the ringgit exchange rate at the top of rupiah, Malaysia has
the potential to leave Indonesia, then par with Singapore and Brunei. Economic
strength is a major factor resurrection of Malaysia in the ASEAN region, coupled with
specific factors. Malaysia always ambitious to deprive dignity Indonesia. Revenge for
the confrontation in 1963, causing Malaysia never ceases to disturb Indonesia on
their bilateral relations. In the case of Pulau Sipadan-Ligitan, diplomatic confrontation
was won by Malaysia in Internastional Court of Justice. since then, Malaysia began
to show their impudence. The next confrontation is Ambalat island. and then batik,
Pendet, song Rasa Sayange, and rendang, From those fact, I argue that Malaysia is
our main competitor.
2. How competitive Indonesia? Indonesia has abundant natural and human
resources. Indonesia is expected to be the core state in 2050, but I believe the two
capital in the preceding sentence, Indonesia can afford to grow faster than expected
year. Indonesia in the long term will be established state in economy. capital sea
area we also not be underestimated. potential mineral resources under the sea is
also the potential for marine products in the surface of a force to be continuously
excavated by Indonesia if it is to become a strong state in the region. For me, the
world's maritime axis agenda is rational to be applied by Indonesia in the long term.
3.Corruption, misappropriation of law, and the difficulty of bureaucracy, is inhibiting
the progress of Indonesia. state stagnation is caused by the corruption committed by
their own people. State elites corrupt and harm the country. The law enforcement
play rules to protect the interests of investors and the authorities. bureaucrats
complicate the bureaucratic process and cultivate extortion. The third of the above
phenomenon caused our economy stagnant and the impact on underestimation
made by our competitors.
4. Mental revolution discourse is actually a big agenda that is strategic for the long
term. I agree that changes our mentality to face the competitors named malaysia
needs to be expedited. We must re-build a mental discipline (time and place),
transparency, and mutual cooperation (gotong royong). From the long-term agenda,

we will see a gradual change in the economic, political, law, and bureaucratic. There
will be no longer in the future, corruption, missapropriation of law, a difficult
bureaucracy, boosting our economy ready to take off and compete with state such as
Malaysia, even par with Singapore. Because of three factor that I was explain in the
previous sentence, inhibit our economy to grow and damage our state system. In the
middle term, I prefer to build our economy based on national interest, which can start
with nationalization asset. Our government must be brave to take over our strategic
asset like oil, mineral, and food, which had been managed by foreign cooperation.
From a strong economy, we can build a massive defensive system, so it can offset
the power of states in the region.
5. The efforts to overcome the scarcity of resources that apply wise and prudent in
utilizing resources. Steps that can be done is as follows: First, use natural resources
efficiently and effectively, and digging that have not been raised. This activity needs
to be done so that the available resources are not easily damaged or destroyed and
a new one can be used optimally. For example: repairing the damaged goods.
Second, enyelenggarakan education and vocational training to improve the quality of
human resources. Through these activities formed diarapkan workers - skilled and
expert in the field so as to maximize the use of resources. For example, organized a
sewing course and mechanic training. Third, manage and utilize appropriate sources
of capital. Management of capital resources appropriately in order to make someone
able to adjust their income properly. For employers, it could streamline operational
costs so that profits was maximal.
6. The main threat for long-term defense is conducted economic invasion of non
state actors. for me personally, multiasional corporation presence is a form of
asymmetric warfare against national security. This is because the company has
never had any other purpose than to take the maximum profit from the production
and sale in Indonesia. they know very well that our economy depends on them.
therefore, nationalization of assets is a strategic move to address this threat. bold
steps need to be put in place to save the integrity of the state and nation. because it
depends on the country or other non-state (corporation) actors is a bitter reality, in
which we lose sovereignty in the political economy. When they (already success to
disarm the the natural resources and human of us, of course, this country has
finished.
